Is a Zaino "base" really necessary?
I have read it is best to put a coat of Zaino AIO before applying the first coat Z2 or Z5. I have a new car and want to put some Zaino on it. Is this really necessary or can I go straight to the Z2?

There used to be a Z1 that you put on as the base. Now you can use AIO as the base. It is actually like a cleaner wax that you don't even have to top with Z2 or Z5. I use the AIO and then start layering the Z5 w/ZFX! Then I reach for my sunglasses!!

If you use the ZFX additive you do not need to base with AIO.

If you've NEVER done anything with the car, I'd clay it once then use Z-AIO once (if you have it), otherwise go to town with the Z5 and Z2 layers. I think my car has 10-15 layers on it at any given time (assuming a layer wears down after 6-9 months after it is applied).

I found that Z-AIO makes a big difference when used before Z-5 or Z-2. Z-5 is my favorite.

You have to make sure that you paint is thoroughly clean before starting the Zaino regimen. Before AIO product was available us oldtimers had to wash the car with Dawn. Using AIO first will clean the paint and place a coat of Zaino protection on the car. Start your Z-2 or Z-5 after that. Maximum shine reached after 4 to 6 coats.
