what happened to the california car duster?
i needed a new cal car duster after 20 years. so i went to pick one up at orileys , and they had one called "pacific coast duster". after i took it home and used it once , i put it back in the package and returned it. it didnt work at all, it just spread the dust around and left red lint all over. so i go online to try to find a orignal california car duster and every site is out. anyone know what the deal is ?

We carry the line, not sure if they are all on backorder or if its just one size. Give us a call and we should be able to help.

Did you make sure to lay it on newspaper for a day to pull the excess wax off? I have one that I've had for 18 years and it still works great. I did buy a new one that only gets used on the vette.

ok.... pepboys by my house didnt have any
i cant keep the old one , i already threw it away. the vinal that the mop is attached to actually started to tear and curl up. in retrospect if i had knowen replacing it was going to be this difficult i would have glued it back on and got another 5 years out of it probably. but i figured that after 20 years i have gotten my 15 dollars worth out of it.
i checked calcarcover.com and it said the estimated ship date is june third. thats two weeks from now. so im thinking that means they dont have them yet either
as for walmart , i havent checked them yet . but unless its absolutely nessessary i refuse to shop the evil empire
autogeek... your temperarily out of stock.
and smokin..... if your asking if i placed my " pacific coast duster " on newspaper , the answer is no. but there wasnt any wax on this duster. its just a very cheap knock off

I purchased mine from Auto Geek and also from California Car Cover. Both had them when I needed them for myself and shipped as gifts to different parts of the country.
I think some of the big parts chains must have cheaped out with the inferior brands but there are good retailers that still carry the best brand California Car Duster.

I actually found one about a week ago at a different pepboys about 40 minutes away from my house. they had one left. used it a few times so far and it seems to work just like my old one did.

I was lucky enough to get one at Pepboys 5 years ago. I love this thing..especially during pollen season. It's the original version with the wooden handle which are hard to buy these days.

Decided to visit the local Autozone and they had the one with the plastic handle for just over $14. Prices on these things are all over the place online.
Wal Mart had them as well but I like Autozone better.

The size of the California Car Dusters seems to vary quite a bit. Some have plastic handles, some wood. Some are hefty and some are slim and puny. If you buy new put them on a newspaper overnight to soak in the excess parafin resin. I do get them at Walmart. My favorite store
