Default Best products for Red paint

I'm looking for guys with red cars to chime in. Preferably people who have used a variety of products. . . .zaino, black fire, wolf dogs, Adams, meguiars, rejex, on and on. I want to know what works best on red cars.

I'm going to hopefully get a Porter Cable 7424XP for Christmas and am wanting to try some differents products to repair all the damage that has been done to the paint over the last 4 years.

Thanks in advance, Austin

Clay Bar: Z-18 ClayBar

For a polish: Meguiars Mirror Glaze #2 Fine Cut Cleaner or Menzerna Super Intensive Polish. Depending on the severity of your clear coat, lots of spider webbing, cat like scratches, marring, holograms, I would go with Menzerna. If you clear coat is in great condition, go with the Meguiras. Use an orange pad with either of these products with you PC.

Sealants: Z-5 PRO Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches, two coats of initial application after claying and applying a polish.

Once you have completed the Z-5, add a coat of Z-CS Clear Seal, once cured, 3 -4 hours, apply a Top coat with Pinnacle Signature Series II Carnauba Paste Wax. You will be amazed.

For your weekly maintenance, detail with Z-6, then followed by a top coat of pinnacle liquid souveran spray wax. I use to use Z-8 as well, but after several side by side tests between Z-6 and Z-8, I got a greater shine with Z-6. I no longer use Z-8. I now finish my weekly detail with a good wipe down of pinnacle liquid souveran spray wax.

wait until you get the buffer .....

Then get a 2-step polish system like Menzerna SIP and 085rd. Once the polishing is done you can top it off with Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax or Blackfire Paint Sealant.

So I'm looking at getting and applying in the following order:

1) Mother's Clay Bar
2) Porter Cable Buffer
3) Menzerna SIP and 085rd
4) Black Fire Paint Sealant
5) Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax

How does that sound? Also, what color pads should I use for each of those?

After the Blackfire you may not need to top it with anything. Some say a carnuba can be applied. I tried it both ways on my TR Grand Sport and personally like the Blackfire sealant as a stand alone final step. I honestly don't think I've ever worked with a product so easy to put on and take off.

I agree. I think I like it better stand alone. BFWD one of my favorites for Victory Red.

There are some sealants that are sterile and really look much better with a deep wet wax. Blackfire however is full of glossing agents and really looks quite nice on its own. Consider topping as optional and perhaps try both to find your personal preference.

I have decided against the Souveran Wax for now because I used a Meguiar's Carnuba yesterday by hand and really liked the look. So if I were to buy your kit that comes with 5 pads, which ones do you recommend?

I'd like an orange, white, and blue for the above mentioned chemicals. However, not sure what to get for the other 2. I'd also like to purchase something to clean the glass, so maybe a pad for that, as well as a pad to really shine the finish once everything has been added.

Thanks, Austin

Your gonna need more than one of each pad so grab a few of each. I currently love and use the Hydro-tech pads which come in three abrasive levels as an example and I keep around 3-4 of each on hand.

As to your second answer, you use a finishing pad only for final polishing as they have very little abrasive quality. For glass I use DP Glass Restorer by hand or with my little Griots hand polisher.

I like the Hydro Pads also. As recommended a few of each makes the job a bunch easier.

Youve got some good pad choices to start with and can add more when or as needed.

As for Blackfire, I personally would suggest using the Blackfire Sealant (Wet Diamond Paint Protection) and then Blackfire Crystal Seal. I suspect you wont even want to top with Mothers. You may want to consider the polymer spray as a booster, but thats completely optional.

We also have a BOGO going on with Blackfire and a good way to pickup a couple items and get some freebies too.

I have been using Wolfgang 3.0 sealer after correction and final polish on my Black '07. Is the Blackfire sealer as good or better than the WG 3.0?

For Christmas I'd ask for the Griots new random orbital vs the porter cable. Also the new nanoskin is way better than clay bar. Good luck !!!

The words that caught my eye are "to repair all the damage that has been done to the paint over the last 4 years". You are getting lots of advice from folks that have never seen your car. Go to adamspolishes.com and watch Adam's videos on car care. The videos are very educational and you should be able to make an informed decision regarding car care products. I've used the products you have with the exception of Wolf Dogs. My next to the last stop (thinking I'd found perfection) was Klaase followed by P-21S. Fantastic shine and reflection. When I discovered Adam's I was so impressed with the products I called Adam and asked if I could work for him.

I have a Torch Red Grand Sport. Here is what I have used for the last two years to get a finish that I am quite satisfied with.

After removing the existing wax I use the following products.

1. Clay bar (either Adams or Zaino) using with either Adams Detailing Spray or DoDo Juice as lubricants.

2. Adams Time Machine Polish applied with a Porter Cable 7424XP DA polisher.

3. Adams Machine Super Sealant applied with a Porter Cable 7424XP DA polisher.

I have also used Adams Buttery Wax, and it is a good product.

They both are 1st rate products and exceed the outcome of many other products, and they are easier to apply and remove also.
