"UltraCoat" Vs "Zaino"
My dad bought a new Avalon for my mom (43rd anniversary)
Toyota dealer wants to put this "Ultracoat" stuff on it,
it sounds like a teflon polish...
You think the car would be better off Zaino'd?

:yesnod: Zaino
I'm sure the "ultracoat" is a wax that will last a few months and cost the stealer a few $ at most. Teflon will not bond to paint unless the surface is heated to like 700*F or something crazy like that.

I've seen a co-workers car who had one of these "never wax again" miracles applied. Shine was nothing outstanding and it only lasted about 6 months.
Why not do your dad a favour (by saving him some money) and your Mom a favour (by giving her the best looking Avalon around) by doing a clay and putting a couple of coats of Zaino on it for them every spring & fall. Then give your Dad a little maintanance kit of a bottle of Z7, Z6 and a couple of good towels to use in between.
Also, after seeing the crap wash job the Toyota dealer does on my brother in law's 4Runner (swirls galore, scratches from removing bugs with something abrasive), I'd warn him to pass on any courtesy washes they offer when he takes it in for service.

Think about this before you decide to let the dealer "protect" your car...
Their protection will wash off with dishwashing liquid.
As indicated earlier, you can do better.

Dealer applied sealants are HUGE HUGE money making SCAMS for car dealers, they ususally make a solid 300 to 400 on each unknowing customer.

I sold at a Saturn dealer for a short time, and I was well pleased with the "no haggle pricing" and the general operation of the dealer. Then at a morning sales meeting they annouced the sales people would have to start selling sealant and undercoating packages to bring up the profit numbers. Directly after the meeting I went into the general manager's office and quit and told them why. He was amazed that I considered selling 5 year warranty sealant for $400 and charging $75 per year for a "touch up" to keep the warranty in effect as unethical!
