With a properly prepared surface I always apply Zaino by hand. It's so easy I don't see any benefit to using a machine once all the corrective/prep work has been done.

There's really no need to apply Zaino by machine except to save time. I've found it's easier to get a thinner more consistent coat (faster) using a non-abrasive finishing pad and a DA. It does use a LOT more product, though.

I agree.

Use your machine to get the surface free of scratches and swirls. Apply Zaino by hand and you're set.

Actually there is a product by Zaino that is ideal for a machine, that is the Zaino ZPC Fusion Swirl remover. Unless I was just working on a small spot, I would not use ZPC ever by hand, I use ZPC with the Porter Cable with either a yellow or orange pad. As far as Z-2 or Z-5 is concerned, I use those by hand. On some darker color cars like black or dark blue, I have used Z-2 and/or Z-5 with the black foam pad and the Porter Cable, just for that extra you need sometimes with a really dark color.

The only two Zaino products that there is any benefit in applying with a machine polisher are ZPC and AIO. Both of these products have mild abrasives. Zaino recommend that ZPC can be either hand or machine applied. Ever though Zaino implies that Z-AIO can be applied with machine, it recommends by hand since it is formulated to be applied by hand.

Other Zaino polishes (such as Z-2 and Z-5) have no abrasives and the only benefit in using a machine polisher is possibly better coverage, but waste of polishes (too much polish) would be a more likely adverse result.

I apply the others using a "Polishing Pal". Great for even application and no hand cramping.....an old age kinda thing!
