I'm intrigued, and definitely could use some help with my tips. I'm gonna try it.

So where can I get the stuff? Any Home Depot/Lowes or Wally World?

A medium abrasive polish and a microfiber applicator pad will work wonders. Takes me about 3 minutes every time I wash my car.

Well here is the secret to clean them , with no work at all.
Go to your kitchen , If you have a glass -ceramic cooktop .There is a cleaner called 'CERAMA BRYTE' . ''use it'' Take a paper towel apply cleaner , all the black will come off ,all stains will be removed .
Then to really make it really shine , apply a little more , let dry to a haze. and shine with a clean paper towel , believe me you won't believe the difference.
Dave
neat idea..........i polished mine up and then applied that Armor-all wheel protectorant. Looks great and keeps clean. And it also got rid of the brake dust. Unbelieveable

I use Extreme metal polish. It is a pink cotton with chemicals in it and it will remove any and all exhuast stains at a wipe. It took me 2 minutes to remove 3 years of exhaust stains. Never Dull i used and this stuff runs circles around it.

Tried this last night.
Stuff took 10 years/60k miles of deposits off my tips in minutes.

Had to scrub a little with the paper towel, and I used a lot of them, but it works great.

I got some of this stuff based on this thread.

Frankly, I think if the pipes are already relatively clean, Mothers Power Metal works better with less work. I did notice that it works well on buildup but it was hard to fully remove. So perhaps this is a good thing for times when there is a lot of buildup. But I guess I'm gonna stick to PowerMetal for regular use.

Sorry I disagree, it doesn't matter if they are 5 years old or 5 weeks . This works . With very little effort . Maybe you should try it first . then see what you think.

Ummm I did. See my post...

And just to be sure, I just ran a little "bake-off". Left side with CeramaBryte, right side with Mothers Power Metal. Followed the 2-step approach with the paper towel exactly as typed.

At least on my car there was no comparison. The CeramaBryte stuff removed some gunk but was a biotch to get completely shiny. The Mothers removed at least as much (if not more) and came off instantly. The Mother's side was also much shinier. So much so that I actually went back and re-did the left side with Mothers because it did not look as good. I then re-did the other set of pipes I did last night after getting this stuff.

Maybe my experience is unique and I dont want to discourage folks from trying it (I did). But I'm just gonna stick with Mothers. Works great for me. I'll try this stuff again if the pipes get really gunked up as maybe that's it's value...
