Default What Do You Do When Waxing

I'm getting a little past "middle age" and have pretty bad arthritis in my hands. I was wondering how many of you guys use a "buffer" or do it all by hand ?

I've seen some that or orbital and do not go in just a circle... would that be ok.. & I'd finish with a coat of Zaino by hand... ?

thanks for any opinions..

I'm way past middle age, and I still do it by hand. The new buffers with random orbital motion are fine, though. Just don't try to do the work with pressure; let the buffer do it.

I do it by hand. But my neck ailments require me to sit on the ground and do it in smaller sections though. The motion of waxing/buffing while bent over really tweaks my neck.

A random orbital makes it so much easier to apply the finish coat. I'm not sure about applying Zaino but any wax or other paint sealant goes on very easy and fast with an orbital.

Just make sure you use the correct pad to apply it.

by hand brother... its good therapy for the big A. If you do go buffer, like stated, no pressure, let the buffer weight be the only weight.

You can use a bonnet over a polishing pad on a Porter Cable DA polisher for Zanio or just use on of the soft pads. Here is a great site for detail questions. http://www.autogeekonline.net/

Still do it by hand, use a product that is easy to apply and remove and that should help. Will not get into what products as I am sure the thread will drift away into which is best.

I have found that a Cold Beer eases the pain during the Zaino process

This would only work if you could paste buffer pads on their ***** and get them giggling.

by hand but some times bust out the orbital for the hood The hood always seems to be the hardest - it just seems like it doesn't want to come off.

Well, sometimes I may watch for a few minutes the detail guy who comes to my office do it just to make sure he is using the correct stuff. Other then that, I am usually at my desk working on something.

I usually read a magazine and drink a cold one while my car is being waxed...

As a physical therapist I would recommend you purchase a home parafin bath to use before and after you buff . Plus if you're married your wife will love it.

I put a NASCAR or ALMS race on tv. Get a cold one and 'get to work'. It doesn't take long at all. I really 'detail' the front facia when it's on the ramps for an oil change.
