If the wheels are truly chrome then:
1. Clean with Griots Chrome Wheel Cleaner
2. Polish occassionally by hand, or with Mothers Mini Ball, and Chrome Specific Metal Polish
3. Seal with DP Wheel Glaze, Poorboys Wheel Sealant, or Wheel Wax

If wheels are high-polished and coated:
1. Clean with Griots Wheel Cleaner (not chrome) or P21S
2. Use a paint polish occassionally with Mothers Powerball Mini
3. Seal with DP, Poorboys, or Wheelwax

Where can you get all you need:

I've been using PoorBoy's Chrome Wheel Polish for about a year know. Works great on my black chrome.

Try your local Tru Value store, if you have one nearby. That is where I got mine. Or at www.rejex.com

Some boat stores carry it also.

I only use car wash and water to clean all my chrome wheels, course I don't let them get too dirty so no acid based cleaners are needed for all of my cars. I use Zaino Z-2 to seal the chrome about twice a year and if I ever get a smudge or some soil that the car wash and water will not remove I use a mild chrome polish, there are many good chrome and metal polishes on the market, Mothers, Blue Magic, Wenol, etc....

Then you have a few options in terms of what metal polishes to use...

Wolfgang MetallWerk
Mothers
Menzerna
Meguiar's
(just to name a few)

If your wheels are slightly dull, stick with a mild aluminum polish (Wolfgang Fine Aluminum Polish, Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish, Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh), and follow with something finer (Wolfgang Concours Aluminum Polish, Mother's Billet Aluminum Polish). If your wheels are in great shape, just stick with the finer grade polishes.

Keeping them clean will play a huge role in preventing oxidation. I recommend P21S and Griot's Garage for wheel cleaners. Keep in mind if you use any type of sealant, these cleaners will strip it off. I personally like to use the wheel cleaners I mentioned, and use some type of spray such as Optimum Opti-Seal or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant to protect the wheels until the next wash.

Matt pretty much summed up the item, but as an Iforged owner this is what personally works for me.

1. Wash monthly with P21S Wheel Cleaner (safe on uncoated wheels)
2. If wheels tarnished clean with P21S Polishing Soap
3. Polish Wheels with Aluminum polish by hand or with Mothers Powerball/Powercone/Mini
4. Seal with Poorboys or DP Wheel Sealant.

You will find that uncoated wheels are always in a state of decay due to the environment. Extended use of water and heavy chemicals and acids can etch them rather quickly. The biggest bang is to keep them up from the start as otherwise the work gets progressively harder. Try to clean/protect the barrels too and consider using a leaf blower to get all water off wheels as quickly as possible after washing.

Will DG Aquawax suffice, or is an actual spray sealant better? I wash weekly.

Using Aquawax will be just fine. I'm a big fan of that product as well; I should have mentioned it.

Are the polished wheels on a 2005 Corvette coated or uncoated?
