Default Just bought a Porter Cable AND Zaino!!!

Ok, so ive been doing a little homework and want to get this right. I purchased a bunch of zaino stuff and the zaino Z-PC. What kind of pad would I use? I want to clean up the swirls in my Z. Ive heard of orange white and black?

On my buddies Black Vette we have had better luck removing swirls with the yellow pad vs the orange pad using our PC. We then move onto the white pad and then apply sealer by hand

Im going another direction ...

I find ZPC to be a lighter polish and find it best with a white pad or finishing pad personally. If you need a more aggressive polish or find you want a product that seems to work best with Vettes harder coating, then move to Menzerna (SIP and 085rd), Wolfgang (TSR and FG), or Megs (105 and 205) two step polishing systems. I personally dont use yellow traditional LC pads with PC as they can cause alot of marring which is hard to remove. There are newer pads like Surbuf and Hydro-tech pads as other options.

Best part is you can find some compatibility between all the lines and pads noted and really work them together. Then top with the wax or sealant of choice to protect your hard work. You'll love the PC ...

Default Z-PC May Not Be Enough

AmitZ06, I'm an avid user of Zaino products, but I think you may not get the results you are looking for with Z-PC. You will likely needs a more aggressive (more abrasives/cut) polish. Our Vettes have a pretty hard clear coat and I use Menzerna polishes for removal of scratches and swirls.

I'm not saying that Z-PC might not remove the swirls, that is if they are very very light swirls. If you are not satisfied with the results of the Z-PC, you need to go to a more agressive polish and then finish off with Z-PC.

Thanks guys! Ok so start off with Mezerna on what kind of pad? After I'm done with that use the zpc with a white pad? Why is the zpc needed after the Mezerna?

Thanks!!

SIP with a Lake Country Cyan Hydotech

85 rd with a tangerine

No ZPC after that, just apply your sealant.

Try the zpc/orange pad and see if it does what you want.
If not then orange/sip, followed by white/zpc.
The zpc will really clean things up.
Then the sealants which are a piece of cake.

It depends on the finish. If you need a more abrasive polish use SIP with orange pad. You can then use ZPC or Menzerna 085rd with a white or lighter finishing pad to really amp up gloss and reflection and remove any lighter micromarring.

Trying to decyfer some of the abreviations used is like reading a doctor's prescription .
note to self--apply yourself...apply yourself...
I think I understand it:
Menzerna SIP (whatever that is with an orange pad)
Zaino Paint Cleaner (ZPC) with what pad ? Is thisa Polish ?
Zaino Z2 Pro or Z5 Pro (by hand or a machine ?) Is this a sealer ?
Zaino Clear seal by hand (got to be a sealer )
Did I get close ?
I really want to use the Griot machine I've got and want to practice on my dad's 333K mile Acura Legend before I use it on my car.

Menzerna SIP and ZPC are both abrasives used to correct the paint.
Zaino Z2 AND Z5 are both polished used after the correcting process.
Zaino clear seal is a sealer, but is not needed.

Hey, so I just purchased the Menzerna SIP and a Orange Pad. Do the pads wear fast, just checking if i need to order more. And do you follow up with anything else? Or is does ur finish look perfect after the SIP?

The pads last for a while, but I'd recommend a few of each orange and white.
I would also follow up the orange/sip with white/zpc.

That is weird, I could have swore I posted on this thread already.

I would use a white pad and ZPC and set your speed at 5.5. Do overlapping strokes and work the polish until it turns clear. Do not work it until it is dry, you want to stop when it is still wet but turns like an opaque look. Wipe off the residue with a soft MF towel.

Make sure you keep your pad as flat as possible.

Follow that with ZPC on the black pad set at 4.5 to 5.5.

Then apply your Z2p or Z5p by hand. Do entire car and then start removing it when done. Just do the swipe test with aq finger to verify it is dry.

And remember, less is more with Zaino.

with proper care and storage you should get many uses from a pad. You should have a minimum of 2 pads in each color per car per day, sometimes more.

SIP, Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, has a very high gloss rating. Some suggest it finishes so well that no other polishing is needed. I however suggest using Menzerna Nano (106ff, 106fa) or 085rd from Menzerna to finish and amp up gloss and reflection. All of these polishes are part of the ceramiclear polishes and work much better on harder coatings like Vettes.
