Default Best deal on orbital buffer and which brand?

Im unemployeed right now and cant find a job so I figured I could try making some money detailing friends cars. My pops has offered to buy me a orbital buffer of my choice as long as I get a good deal for an early christmas present. I want to get one of those complete packages that includes all the pads and polishes and I dont want to have to buy anything else for a while.

Can anyone recommend a vendor that has a good price and a complete package? Or if a vendor reads this, send me some info on a deal.

Are you talking "buffer" or "polisher". Commonly used interchangeably on this forum - nothing could be further from the truth. Polisher is fairly safe in the hands of the inexperienced. Buffer is outright dangerous - you can easily burn through the paint, especially on an edge, if you don't know what you are doing. Polisher is great for minor issues - buffer will cure those and deeper stuff too IF you know what you are doing. Perhaps this doesn't answer your question - but you need to know what you're after before you can really address this.

you need to post this in the Car Care section, that is where all the forum vendors are - they have packages like you are looking for

Go here!
http://www.autogeek.net/po.html

Porter Cable is great for what you want to do.

This is a good one with menzerna
http://www.autogeek.net/menzerna-por...w-car-kit.html

I bought this one
http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-por...ble-combo.html

They have tons of packages. Just stay with in Menzerna SIP or Wolfgang TSR 3.0 combos.

I'm afraid, you'll have to buy more towels, and pads though. I discovered that half way through buffing with the orange cutting pad it started to lose effectiveness.

Posted this in General but was told I'd have better luck here.

I highly suggest the new Improved Griots Random Orbital Buffer. Call us tomorrow as several packages exist and we will have plenty of associates to help. We offer a price guarantee and indeed have a holiday buffer sale currently.

Check the flex.
I had a pc then got a flex.
I recently did my Silverado and was thinking about how much longer it would have taken had I still had my pc.

Porter Cable 7335 or 7336 the last digit is the diameter of the pad.
Forum vendors mentioned in the previous post sell complete kits.

The Cheapest place for the unit alone is Lowes.
You can buy all the pads etc from online detail supply shops including Forum vendors.

I would highly recommend you look at the Porter Cable 7424XP Random Orbital Buffer and Flex XC 3401 VRG. Both of them are paint safe, easy to use and get great results. The PC 7424 XP is just slightly easier to use but the Flex can remove a little bit more of the imperfections. If you are starting a business where you are going to target customers who appreciate high quality detailing I would suggest the Flex. It can help restore the finish better and still makes detailing safe and easy.

We have some great deals on both buffers:

DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP 6.5" Basic Kit
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424 XP 6.5" Starter Kit
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424 XP 6.5" Advanced Kit

OR

DI Packages Flex XC3401VRG Starter Package
DI Packages Flex XC3401VRG 2 Step Menzerna Polishing Package

The package that I think best suits your needs though is this one:
DI Packages Flex XC3401VRG 2 Step Menzerna Polishing Package Only $399.99
You get the Flex, 4x White Pads, 4x Orange Pads, Menzerna PO83 32oz (medium polish - use with orange pad) and the Menzerna PO106FA 32oz (light polish - use with white pad). These polishes will help you permanently remove swirls, oxidation that make a car look old and dull. Additionally details where you polish the car are where you really can charge more and make a car look like new again.

Follow that up with a quality sealant applied by a Lake Country Blue Fine Finishing Pad. The Blackfire Wet Diamond with Polycharger is our top selling sealant right now and for good reason. It's super durable, gives off a deep reflective glow and is very easy to work with. You only need about one ounce per coat so it lasts a long time as well.

I hand remove all the excess product with quality microfiber towels as well. They help safely remove and collect the excess polish, sealant, etc. Our DI Microfiber All Purpose Towel saves you a ton of time and works great. Best of all they are on sale this month at over 35% off any quantity. I would suggest getting about 10x to help with the detail.

I would also suggest a good washing and drying kit from us so you can wash the cars quickly and effectively. Our DI Packages Washing and Drying Starter Package has all the tools you need for a quality washing and drying job.

Let me know if you have any other questions I'd be happy to help!

Greg @ DI

Nice post, I'll be ordering soon, just waiting for a good deal to come my way. The link for the $399 option you recommended takes me to a $429 package that only includes pads.
