Default Opened C6 Door on Garage Wall

Well, I messed-up. My garage has a support beam along the wall next to the driver's side door on my 08 C6 Vert. I parked it too close, got out...and scratched the clear-coat. It's not deep...you can only see it when you sight down the door...but it's there. The scratch is about 3 inches long and is two inches wide...it's scuffing from getting out of the car and the suspension moving.

So, what do you think...should I take my Bosch buffer (random orbit with correct buffing pads)(I have a bunch of polishes and waxes from Adams, Zaino, and other manufacturers)...and try to buff it out...or take it to a friend that has a really good body shop (lots of history with Vettes) and let them polish it out.

I'd like to detail my car this weekend...but I've read a lot of horror stories on the forum about clear-coat buffing...so I can just wash it up and do my usual clean-up thing and take it to the body shop...or try to do it myself...

So what do you think...professional or amateur?

Thanks Much

Can you post a pic of the damage? I doubt a Bosch ROB has enough power, the C6 is going to have a very hard CC. You'll almost need a rotary, but should be able to correct with a DA/Flex. But your going to need some strong polishes to level down the clear around it. May need some Menzerna SIP and an orange pad. But of course start with the least aggressive first. Maybe Nano on white and then Nano on orange, then move to SIP and white then orange if the previous doesn't work.

But then again if your friend has a really good body shop, then they'll be able to take care of it quicker, just depends on how much he's going to charge you.

I've had that experience as well in the past . Can you post a picture? That may help determine a proper correction. Does a fingernail catch while running it over the scratch?

I had to use padding arround the poles that are in my garage to prevent that issue...

Good luck
