Default Y2K Thin Spoke Corrosion-need some wisdom

I searched the threads and didn't find much addressing my particular issue. I have a set of Y2Ks and there appears to be some corrosion on the wheel wells. Any suggestions as to how to start refinishing them? Here is a shot right after I cleaned off the brake dust.

looks like pitting and etching in the pics. Quite common as most dont clean the barrels and the corosive effects of wheel cleaners, brake pads, and other particles attach and damage finish over time. You will likely need to have them professionally polished and recoated often at an expense greater than a new Repo set.

I was afraid that may be the case. Thanks for the response. I'm wondering if I could spray the barrels black to eliminate further damage. Any thoughts? Have you seen this done?

Look for a powdercoater in your area ...its baked on and hard to remove. Much better than paint on a wheel especially given the heat and abuse they see.
