Default Can a Flex use smaller pads?

Is there any way the Flex can be made to use smaller pads? I do love my PC, but curiosity is getting the better of me and I may want to try the flex. But, I must be able to still use smaller pads like 4". I feel that I can work more thoroughly with them, into tighter areas on the car. If I can only use the 6+ inch pads, then it's not going to work for me.

Thanks!

I've done a lot of reading about the Flex, and from what I can tell the smallest pads you can use are 6". They changed from a 6" to a 5.5" backing plate, but have no provision for a 4 incher. That's kind of a bummer.

PM Evil_C5 I believe he is using the 4 inch pads with his flex.

You can only use 6" with the factory backing plate. Why is 4" a requirement? I can polish an entire C5 just fine using the Flex with 6" pads.

Jason there is a adapter that uses the edge2000 system that is retro fitted for the flex
edge has 4"pads ,,,,that being said the flex is a GREAT machine way way more power then the pc and much much faster some of the best money Ive ever spent the flex is the real deal...i still use my pc with 4" pads for the tight spots and for applying waxes my rotary just sits there lol no holograms to buff out with the flex

Well, for starters... that area inside the side scoops beheath the BSM, along the length of the door and into the fenders... a 4" pad handles that very well. With a 6" pad I'd only be able to hit that area on an angle and that makes me nervous. THe 4" pads seem better suited to me for getting other tight areas such as door jambs. The pads are more maneuverable. Maybe these areas CAN be done with a 6" pad... but I just don't see it? I don't want to have to have two different orbitals; but if I had the flex I would love to have two sets of pads (4" and larger) so I could interchange. I want to be able to use whichever size is best for the area of the car I'm on.

I like the Edge adapters, and have one on PC, Rotary, and now the Flex. Dual sided pads also rock and quick change needs too.
