About 6 weeks ago I applied some rain x to the glass and I didnt get it buffed off in a timely manner so it dried streaky. It is horrible looking and I cant get it off. Ive even tried paint thinner. Suggestions? Looking out the glass at night looks like its always fogged up now.
Ive tried detal sprays...I didnt try clay yet. I have a glass polishing kit from eastwood I was thinking about trying, but its a pain in the ass and messy.
Possibly lacquer thinner might work, but don't drip it on the paint or get it on the moldings! Lacquer thinner will leave another cloudy film, which then can be removed with paint thinner (mineral spirits), and then multiple coats of Windex to remove that (been there, done that when I had to remove paint speckles from my 87 Vette's windshield, and most of the rest of the front end and side paint when I was following a guy who spilled a bucket of white paint off his pickup several vehicles ahead of me - I only got a very fine spray off the vehicle's tires just ahead of me - can't imagine what the vehicles just behind the truck looked like!).
Also, there are some more aggressive glass cleaners (have even used Bon-Ami powder which says it is safe for glass) out there, than the typical Windex type cleaners.

Well, the first thing that freaks me out about using RainX on a Vette windshield is that the windshields (or all the glass) have/has to be coated by something from the factory. I only say this as my windows bead rain like a freshly wax car and I know the previous owner didn't use anything. RainX may affect this coating and cause it to look hazy. (If anyone knows more about what is on the windshields from the factory, I am all ears.)
Did you try to apply the RainX again, as it may bond to the excess Rainx, and help it buff off.
Last resort, RainX also wears off after a few months, so if it is RainX on your glass that is causing the haze, then it will wear off in time. Did you contact RainX to see what they suggest?
I am sort of worried that it is not the RainX that is causing your issues as I did my truck a month ago and left it for half an hour to 45 minutes before buffing it off with no ill effects. Plus, RainX is a pretty good solvent as it took all the bug stains/guts and crap off my windshield while I was using it, so it may have affected this so called factory coating that I am sure our cars have.
Try polishing your windshield with some Zaino Z-12 (Clear View Glass Polish $12.95 per bottle) You can use a buffer or do it by hand. It works wonders on glass.
I have found that the last step is the most important with RainX. A slightly damp towel! I have tried a dry one and it just doesn't get it all off. Apply and let dry to haze. Remove with try towel and then finally with a slightly damp one. No issues on the vette windshield for me. But I only get caught in the rain by accident.
