Default Underhood Blanket

Two years ago I painted my blanket's flag design and left the rest "natural". Now it's getting a little worn and I'm wondering what to paint it with. When I painted the flag, it really soaked up the paint. I'm worried that it will take many cans of paint. Is there a "sealer" on the market that one can put on prior to painting? I Googled and found several that claim to be sealers of fabric but before I go spend that money I thought I'd seek professional help? Any ideas?

I have done this to my auto 3 times. First you need to literally saturate the whole blanket with flat black paint. Once that is dry then paint your logo but it still tends to soak into the blanket. In your case you might be able to cover the painted insignia with something like craft paper then spray flat black around it to restore the color to the blanket. Hope this helps.

I tried to paint my 02, and it did not work out well at all. I bought a PaulaH one and was happy till car wrecked and insurance would not cover the artwork. On the C6, I bought one of the new ones with the prepainted emblems. I suggest the same, as cleaning them it a bear at best and painting worse.

You may try a search on "Hood Insulation" in the C5 general discussion. I think it's DeeGee that has posted a how to on this. His results were great! Good luck.
