Default Wolfgang paint polish question...

I will first clay the car, then use Wolfgang paint polish, then Wolfgang paint sealant 3.0. My question is, will it be worthless to apply the polish by hand? I don't have a machine polisher. I have a buyer for the polish if it won't work for me, so please be honest, I don't want to waste my time!

vette clearcoat is so hard, you might be rubbing by hand for days to get any sort of results.

Wolfgang Swirl Remover will not do anything to your vette if applied by hand. Like Evil said vette's clear coats are very hard, and this polish is meant to be use with a polisher.

What about as far as removing old polish/wax, paint sealants from the car. Is a machine polisher still needed to do that with this product?

it will remove it, but any paint correction will need a machine for the most part.

for removing old contaminents without aid of buffer for polishes, consider using a commercial stripper like 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover or one of the paint cleanser which chemically strip these items. Pinnacles Paintwork lotion and P21S GEPC are two of the easiest and prove excellent results.

Thanks!

What/how should I apply it? I will be claying first. Should I still use the paint polish by hand before the wolfgang sealant, or just use the sealant after the stripper? Should I wash the car after the stripper?

If you're claying the car, there's no need to strip the wax - the claybar will take care of that.

I wouldn't bother using a swirl remover by hand, unless you plan on sitting there for at least an hour on each panel vigorously rubbing small sections at a time.

My suggestion would be to wash, clay, and apply WG sealant for now until you can get a good polisher to use with that swirl remover.

Sounds good!

When I get a PC 7424, what color pad would you recommend to use with the WG Paint polish? Also, what speed?

Thanks!

If you are doing this on your 08 C6, I would suggest what most people do, wash car with Dawn dishwashing liquid, clay, wash again, then wax. If you buy the PC7424 I would use the polish then the sealant. Otherwise, without the PC I would forget wasting your time with the polish cause you won't see any improvements.

There is NO point in washing with Dawn. It is not safe for plastics, rubbers, etc and should be left in the kitchen.

As I said, clay will strip any wax and leave the surface clean and smooth for your sealant.

For mild defects, you can get away with a 5.5" orange pad for the TSR, and a 5.5" green pad for FG.

For more severe swirls, swap out that 5.5" orange pad for a 4" yellow pad, and the 5.5" green for a 4" green.

If you're properly and thoroughly claying the car, it will remove any sealant or wax, so yes.

I've never clayed before, so just to *make sure* I remove all wax/sealant, would it hurt to use 3m wax and adhesive remover before the sealant?

It wouldn't hurt anything. It's a waste of time to me, but if it makes you happy then go right ahead.

I'm going to apply the WG polish by hand before the sealant in place of the 3M stripper until I get a PC. I have the polish, it's not going to hurt, might as well use it!

That's fine. Just use a soft pad, use light pressure, and work it in REAL good. Keep in mind that polish is designed for machine use only, so you need to rub it in quite a bit to break down the abrasives some.
