Default 2008 Carbon Fiber Inset

Ok, for those with 08's. This will fall into the EXTREMELY anal bucket, but I have to ask....

The ultra shiny/glossy carbon fiber lookalike trim used around the console and shifter is prone (like any super glossy surface) to tons of micro swirls. I would say scratches, but they are not scratches, just swirls like on the back of a CD. Is there anything you can do to get rid of them, can you use a plastic polish that you would use on headlights to get rid of the swirlys, or should I just hit myself in the head for being so damn particular with this new car???

thanks in advance.

You could try Novus plastic and acrylic polish on a small out of site spot. I use it on acrylic and plexi all the time to remove fine to medium scratches.

cool, that was the product I was leaning towards. I have some high quality microfibers coming in, and I will try to track this down tomorrow. Im guessing wally world wont have it. Perhaps I will order...thanks.

Wally world won't have it but if you look in the yellow pages under plastics or acrylics a local shop should carry it.

Motorcycle shops should carry what you are looking for.

I was wondering the same thing as I put the 08 console in my 07 a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't sure if the gloss was because it was a high gloss plastic or if it was clearcoated. I did hit it with some Z8 and it really shimmers now

Try GriotsGarage plastic polish.
I used Adams QD on this.

I placed an order for the novus 1 and 2. I will hit it up when it comes in and try to post some before and after shots. Since the super fine swirls are only visible from a certain angle, I will try my best but cannot make promises. Thanks for the help.
