Default Bleche Wite On Wheels Clear Coat

I had surf the treads that were Bleche Wite related and found some enough encouragement that, I a layman to detailing by all means of the word, felt comfortable enough to try. What I read was mainly don't spray the wheel directly with the spray. I didn't. It dripped on the wheel. So I felt within a minute it wouldn't hurt. Boy was I wrong. I have some drip streaks across my wheels now. Has anyone had any luck in removing these streaks or do I fear the worse ie they're etched? I'm sending out an SOS...

These are clear coated wheels.

this is where people fail to read the entire senario and post misinformation that can harm someone permanently:

1. Bleche White --- the spray that makes white walls white should never be used on painted surfaces, even the bottle warns of it. They do make a wheel cleaner (grey bottle) but much to harsh in my opinion for clearcoated wheels on a normal basis.

2. Metal Polish --- a metal polish should NEVER be used on a clearcoated wheel. Metal polishes are designed for metal wheels exposed the the elements. Wheels sealed via paint or cc are to be treated just as paint with a paint cleaner or paint polish as needed.

these streaks are likely etched into paint or scared clearcoat, but try a paint polish quickly and see if you can reduce their appearance.

My apologies. I posted from my experience with aluminum rims. Misinformation deleted.

It also does a number on zinc plated rotors.

Ditto what Killer said. The only way you can fix the clear coat streaks in the wheels is to try polishing them out with a good polish or wet sanding. Good meaning - a light abrasive polish w/No fillers.

How do I know? I used too heavy a degreaser on mine once and ended up refinishing the wheels.

I was lucky this time! I used a QD and the wheels shine as ever without any streaks. I must ask how do you use Bleche Wite without getting it on your wheels? You have to apply enough to clean the tire which at that point it begins to run/drip. I plan on using Simple Green next time to clean the tires.

I guess I might try a Wheel Shield in a pinch, but only as needed. I highly suggest a wheel cleaner like P21S or soap/water as needed versus store bought wheel cleaners (often contains lye or acid) and APC's.

Sounds like you lucked out. If you want to make sure the QD didn't just cover up the streaks, wipe the wheel down with some alcohol.

I don't use Westley's for the above reason. It's almost impossible to keep it off the wheels. I haven't had a problem with Simple Green or Eagle One AP wheel cleaner on clear coated wheels. Eagle One works pretty good at cleaning tires & brake dust, and no streaking.
