Default Zaino vs P21S ... I have th eresults

OK ... I promised everyone that I was going to post the results of my test of Zaino and P21S that we were clued into from http://www.thewaxtest.com. My vehicle is very red.
I purchased their gift pack that contained the following:

a 500 ml bottle of P21S Wheel Cleaner and Sprayer
a 500 ml bottle of P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo
a 350 ml bottle of P21S Gloss-enhancing Paintwork Cleanser
a 175 gr. jar of P21S Concours-look Paste Wax
one P21S Crystal Clear Windshield Wipe

Car Shampoo
Step #1
The bodywork conditioning shampoo is very good. Low suds . great clean. It went on with almost an oily application. Very smooth. Rinsed perfectly. No milky white residue that some soaps can cause. Cleaned everthing it was supposed to. Bugs, road film, etc

Gloss enhancing cleanser
Step #2
I was truly stunned by this stuff. It is a cleaner that almost acted like a wax. The shine was incredible after applying. I almost did not want to put on the wax. It is a milky white substance that you wipe on in a back and forth motion and immediately wipe off. Left a very smooth surface free of any contaminates. This took me about 30-40 minutes to apply and take off. Very easy to apply.

Concours paste wax
Step #3

Again, I was pleased at the ease of application of this step. This is a special blend of beeswax and others. It is applied with a supplied sponge applicator. It goes on very easy. Wipe on with sponge applicator and wipe off almost immediately with towel. NO WHITE ON THE BLACK plastic parts. The shine and depth of the results were very good. My car shone very well with Zaino, but I would have to say that the gloss and reflectivity on this stuff wins with only 1 coat. Very smooth to the touch also. No streaking of any kind. After applying it, it would bead up with the best of them. The real test will be in a couple weeks to see if the bead factor is still there.

Wheel cleaner
Step #4

This whole test was worth it because of this step. I was introduced to P21S' wheel cleaner. If you are not using this stuff, you should be. It is sprayed right onto the wheels and rinsed off. The brake dust melted right off. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was just a fluke on 1 wheel. Not only was the exteriorof the wheel clean, but I was able to get off in minutes, brake dust that had accumulated on the interior part of my wheels. Those hard to reach areas. I sprayed it on and washed it off. The ENTIRE wheel was clean. You have to buy this stuff if you want truly clean wheels !!

Overall, I was impressed with this stuff. It looks very good. I need to be convinced about the longevity first before I make my final decision. It is no question easier to apply than Zaino. No more waiting between coats. Less time needed for as good a look or better.

I am still continuing to use the Zaino window cleaner. NOTHING beats that. I will post the longevity results in a few weeks. My car will give this a good test. It is garaged in the evening and sits in the elements all day while at work.

The P21S line up of car care products is of German import. Typically, you will find that German products are very straight forward and perform as indicated. I'm not surprised that you have found the P21S products to your liking.

In regard to longevity, you are really comparing apples to oranges when comparing a wax (P21S) to a polymer (Zaino). Without a doubt, you will find that the polymer will always outlast the wax. A wax just does not have the durability of a polymer.

Some people either, A. Like to wax their car on a regular basis or B. Prefer the appearance of a wax and therefore choose this route knowing that durability is lacking.

Thanks for posting your results, P21S products deserve some exposure. :yesnod:

Does it have silicone?

Kale, all carnauba waxes contain silicone oils, that is the only way they can shine. I have used P21S and it gives a good shine because it has one of the highest levels of oil of any product, it will only last a few weeks though like all carnauba wax products. :)

I've been using P21S products on both of my Corvettes and have found them to be great. My experiences with them are the same as reported by SnkBtn99. Rubyred93 is also correct in that carnuba-based products will not last as long as the polymer based products, but will give a "softer" appearance to the paint.

The key here is that we've got to get away from the idea that one product is best for all users. The considerations here are how much you drive your car (daily or garage queen), whether you store your car inside or outside, and how much time you want to dedicate to maintenance on a routine basis.

I think Zaino is a great product. It's easy to apply, easy to maintain and wears like iron. I recommend it to friends who are looking for a quality product that requires little on-going maintenance and/or are daily drivers.

My Corvettes are not daily drivers and I like putting a fresh coat of wax on them every two to three weeks. I also prefer the "warmer" look that wax produces, so P21S is my personal choice.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's a matter of personal preference, and what's best for one person may not be best for someone else. I think there's more than one "right" answer when it comes to this topic.

P21S update ...... going on the 3rd day with P21S applied. No dust to be found. With my car being daily driven, I usually begin to see dust build up after a few days. None yet.

As said in other postings, waxes are for some and polymers are for others. No questions that Zaino lasted forever. I want to see exactly how long P21S lasts. Application and shine are great on P21S. Lengevity is my concern with vehicle being a daily driver and in the elements each day.

Will let everyone know.

According to P21S their wheel cleaners are non caustic and safe for all wheels types. For more info check out http://www.P21S.com. It will give you the whole sccop.

I'll quote you some prices from Classic Motoring Accessories. P21S can be purchased elsewhere, but I happen to have their catalog handy....

P21S 100% Acid-Free Wheel Cleaner...500ml Spray is $13.95
1000ml Refill is $17.95

P21S BodyWork Conditioning Shampoo...500ml is $8.95

P21S Carnauba Wax...6.2 oz. is $24.95

P21S Paint Cleanser...11.8 oz. is $9.95

You can purchase these items separately, but Classic Motoring Accessories also sells a kit that contains the Shampoo (500ml), Paint Cleanser (11.8 oz), Carnauba Wax (6.2 oz), and the Spray Wheel Cleaner (500ml) for $49.95 for the entire kit. Individually, they would run you $57.80.

If you want, you can contact Classic Motoring Accessories at 1-800-628-7596 and ask them to send you their recent catalog, it actually just came out.

P21S also produces other products as well. Hope this helps you out. :)

I've posted this once before, but it's a tip worth repeating.

After you apply the P21S wax to your car & wiped it off, get a spray bottle and fill it with distilled water. (No minerals or salts and won't waterspot.) Take a piece of soft, 100% cotton flannel. An old flannel bedsheet will work... just get your wife's permission first before you cut it up!

Spritz a little distilled water on the freshly waxed car and then lightly buff with the soft flannel. This will add additional gloss to your finish... just like spit shining a pair of shoes! You'll like the result! This is also a good time to remove any excess wax from the cracks, etc.

Look like Zaino is starting to lose ground. I'll have to find another test vehicle for my own wax/polish test.

I have switched from Zaino to P21S and love the results. Mine is not daily driver, and I like to apply wax every several weeks. So it works for me.
