I have been using the leaf blower for about 5 washes now. This weekend was sunny and I washed the car in the sun. When I dried with towels, I can wash in the sun and drive into the garage to dry it. With the leaf blower, I can't dry it in the garage because of all of the flying water so I have to do it on the driveway. The problem is that the I seem to get a lot of water marks doing it this way. The leaf blower does not get all of the little drops off of the car before they dry in the sun.
I think that I may only use the leaf blower when it is cloudy outside. Maybe I will dry the car with towels in the garage then run the leaf blower over it afterwords to get out any risidual water.
Anyone else notice the waterspots with the leaf blower technique? By the way, you have to look closely and carefully in the right light or you may not see the spots. They are small and light.

Re: Drying with towels vs. leaf blower (CDHough)
Had some the other day due to letting the water dry while on the phone with a "TELEMARKETER :smash: :smash: "(Hate them bastiches). After washing the Corvette yesterday, no water marks noticed. Course I blow dry real fast the Sunny parts and try to wash in the morning. Like you said, took a certain angle of the light to see the water marks. Very small :) :)
YES. Big week. Cleaned with Dawn, clayed twice, Zainoed (Z1-Z5). Hit it with the leaf blower, and got thousands of small spots from the water that dried on the Zaino.
Hmmm....let me try this Z6.... :D
Wow, cleaned the spots, added sparkle to the one coat of Zaino, and made the coat slippery again !! :blueangel:
I have tried both and the easy way is to get a
CA Water Blade and one towel. I would give
up just about everything, including Zanio, before
I would give up the Water Blade. It is the BEST
car care item I have seen in 30 years.
Being in the car care product business, who in their right mind would dry a car (especially a Vette) with a Leaf Blower  You are putting high pressure to the dust and contaminates in the air and embedding them into your paint. Just my opinion!!! The California Water Blade and an Absorber works great.
Re: Drying with towels vs. leaf blower (DP77Vette)
So do you just let the hard water dry in all the little hidden spots where no towel or anything can reach? I'm assuming you don't have deionized water at home. I do have deionized water and still cannot imagine not susing a leaf blower after washing and partially wiping or blading a car. Blowing contaminants into the paint? ROFLMFAO!!! I don't think so:rolleyes: Been detailing profesionally over 16 years. Clay and leaf blowers are two of the best car care tricks to come along in that time.

Me  I think the chances of accidently damaging the paint with a water blade are about 100 times higher than 'propelled dust' damage from a leaf blower.
I wash the Vette in the morning or late afternoon... or when it's overcast. You DO NOT want water drying in the hot sun on your paint!! Especially here in SD where our water is VERY HARD.
step 1: get most the water except for a million dots this size > . . . . .. .... .. .. . with the blower.
2 I hit the windows with a waterblade if they are still wet
3 get rid of all the little . . .. sized water beads with a single small fieldcrest towel.

yep, I leave a little water and use a towel, no more spots :) and I love the leaf blower,,,,damage free :yesnod:

I guess you never drive above 10mph as the dust may damage your finish  I love my Black and Decker blower. I get most of the water off than use a charisma hand towel for the rest! I used the absorber for a long time but I'm not fond of dragging it over the finish.
