I put a coat of Zaino on mine everytime I put a coat on the car. Wash & rinse them off in the $1 do-it-yourself spray carwash with the rest of the car, then dry them off with a soft cloth.
While on a cruise with my '03, my 17 year old who does some friends/neighbors car detailing out of my garage surprised me with what he did to my '05 wheels. He used a powerball mini/cordless drill with Meguiar's Next Generation wax. It really cleaned up a lot of the milky look without going through the clear. I have used Zaino since as maintenance. While still not as good as one would expect for the option, they are definitely better than most I've seen and are now almost on par with the factory polished 18" wheels on my '06 CTS.
I've used Nanowax on the entire car including the wheels. My rims are painted though. The spray Nanowax doesn't last long but it looks good and goes on easily. I'm considering RejeX though since it should last longer.

Never use a power washer or jet car wash on the
cars paint. The high pressure presses the dirt and
grime into the paint. The worst thing you can use
to clean your car. Second is rubbing dry.
The best product I found to clean is Mothers All Wheel Mist, spray on cool rims, (could be black with brake dust) rinse with water after two minutes, towel dry. I have used Rejex and Zaino with all types of brushes including bottle brushes to clean inside the wheel and dog tooth brushes to clean between the lug nuts and wheel and the Mothers will do the same type of job, if not better. When done I use compressed air to dry the drilled rotors and drive around the block to take the etching off the rotors. (Will also clean the stock calipers to look like new.)

Although I use NXT, I think whatever you use on the car will work well. What little break dust I get just rinses right off.
I use WheelWax. Works great, but I imagine any good wax will work since what you are shinning is the clearcoat which covers the polished aluminum. You can find WheelWax at www.wheelwax.com
