Read your owner's manual. I'll bet it tells you to use some type of GM product. I would go out to the pole barn and look at mine but it is late and very chilly here in Michigan tonight. You might also check with your local auto upholstery shop and ask what they use.
I have used Mother's convertible top cleaner on a previously owned 87 that had a tan top. It seemed to work good but then the top was not very dirty to begin with.
I would not use bleach without consulting with an expert first.

I've never owned a vert of any kind in my life, but I see this link everytime I vist their website. You might want to post this over in the Car Care section... those guys are into it! Autogeek is also a supporting vendor FWIW.

My 95 came with a VHS tape that shows how to wash the cloth top. Use mild detergent and a soft bristle brush in circular motions. I would not recommend bleach or anything with bleach.

Convertible top
Hello,
My recently purchased 2002 vert sat under a cover for almost five years (had less than 2,200 miles on it) and the light oak top was a MESS. The top was extremely discolored and looked moldy, and I figured I'd have no choice but to replace it. After reading on the forum about top cleaning/protection products,I settled on Raggtop. I applied it with a sponge, and the sucker turned out looking like an Almost new top!
Not perfect, but darn close. Another cleaning treatment should really make it perfect. I bought the kit with cleaner and the water proof/repellent spray. There was enough cleaner to do probably two or three cleanings, and enough spray protectant to do about three coats. Amazing product!!
Me so happy!!!

Westley's Bleach White works extremely well on light colored soft tops. I have been using it on my 65 for many years. Just don't let it sit on your paint. Spray it on the top, let it sit for a minute then use a wash mit or a soft bristle brush as you hose it off.

Raggtopp cleaner.
I had some white smears on my black top, from using a rotary buffer and Menzerna Intensive Polish. NOTHING would take that Menzerna off the cloth top (I've learned why good detailers carefully tape and drape before they use a buffer). The raggtopp cleaner took it off in 5 seconds, no hassle at all.
I'd try it first for sure.
