clear coat problems

i have a couple of area that look like the clear coat has be damages or spotted, they are about the size of a quarter the biggest area is on the back seem to be a 2"x3" area. the car in mag-red can't see the problem area unless you look at them at a certain angle. any way to fix this with out a repaint. thanks

What type of damage? any pics? If it is just on the surface of the cc it can usually be fixed by buffing or even sanding and buffing but if it is something like thin or failing cc repaint is usually the only fix.

Problems seem to be like stain, like from an egg being thrown on it, or bird sh*t that has sat for a while, sorry at work no picture.

Try what I mentioned above starting with the least aggressive method. Try something like 3M 39009 or Zaino Fusion if you have it. Do it by hand first, then step up to a machine like a ROB if by hand doesn't work. If the ROB does not work I would step up to a Rotary and then finally a quick wet sand with 3000 and repolish to a shine if all else fails. You need to be careful that it is not so deep or you don't remove too much clear coat or you could have bigger problems. You could also try a more aggresive polish like 3m 39002 or Menzerna IP if the mild ones mentioned above don't work before going to the wet sanding step which is very aggressive.

All agentf1 said is of course correct, but if your problem is, in fact, areas of clearcoat failure then you can skip it all and go right to the paint shop.

Help

go to a site like Photobucket.com and upload your pics to that site. Then, in your post simply copy the IMG file and paste it into your post. You will see what I mean when you get to Photobucket. Each pic you upload will automatically be assigned the appropriate coding. You can even resize your pics on there to fit better in the post.

Some sites won't allow you to direct link to the pictures. From what I can tell you copied the address from your browser address line then inserted it into the post by using the "insert image" tool in the posting window.

Give this a try, go to your photobucket photo, right click on it. Then select properties. Highlight the address/URL portion which will look like this.

And then right click the highlighted address and select copy.

Then when you start a new post, use the "insert image" button and paste that address into it. So you should see this.



We can work on resizing the images later. If you need more help just let me know.

I already thought of that and tried it and I get this.



But if I go to the link and get the photo's URL from hitting properties then I can display his image.

The direct URL is

I had to remove the http portion in front of the URL above or it will truncate it to look like this

and if you add the image tags as you mentioned it works fine. Seems that photobucket is doing an internal redirect.

When you went to your photobucket account, I believe you clicked on the "thumbnail" picture and then followed my instructions.

Take it on step further before doing what I suggested.

Go to photobucket, click on the small picture that you want and it should bring up the full sized photo. Now follow what I posted earlier.

Or if you want to cheat a little.

This is the URL of the thumbnail

Just copy and paste it like you did, but remove the th_ as bolded above and you should get this
