Default Rejex on Black?

I have an 05 Black coupe that I use Meg NXT wax on now. After reading about Rejex, I am thinking of switching. How does Rejex look on black cars? Does it show hazing, scratches? Does it really have to cure for 12 hours? Anyone have pics of rejex on black? Is it really better than wax? Seems like wax is waste considering new paints are covered with clear coat making a sealant a better product. Any opinions?

Thanks,
Gene

I've used both NXT and Rejex on my black Z06. I think the NXT gives a better shine, however, Rejex is close behind in the shine category and is far more durable and will last longer than NXT. Rejex is also great on chrome wheels and even windows, so I think it's a more versatile product overall. If you've got a garage queen or are prepping for a show, I'd take NXT over Rejex (other products notwithstanding of course...). And yes, as per their instructions, you should let Rejex cure for 12 hours between coats (I usually put on two).

Gene,

I'll try to answer your questions since I've used of the products you mentioned in your post.

1. How does Rejex look on black cars?

I used it on my black 02 coupe and my black 03 Ford F-150. It looks pretty good. To be honest, the NXT looked better but the durability, or lack there of, turned me off so I had tried rejex.

2. Does it show hazing, scratches?

It sure does. Rejex doesn't hide anything, similar to a lot of sealants. There's no fillers in it so it's "all in the prep work".

3. Does it really have to cure for 12 hours?

According to the manufacture, there is a 12 hour cure time between the first and second coat. There is a 6 hour cure time between additional coats. The directions state to keep the car out of the elements (sun, rain, etc) during the curing time.

4. Is it really better than wax?

Better is a pretty broad term. Some people like the look of a good carnauba wax, where others like the look of a polymer sealant. If you're looking for durability, then a polymer is the right way to go. If you have a garage queen, then wax might be better for you.

5. Any opinions?

As I mentioned earlier, I tried both and then tried zaino afterwards. I'm currently sold on zaino myself. *I* found for *my* needs that zaino was the better product.

I would encourage you to make a list of exactly what you want your final finish product to do for you then try a few to see which actually delivers.

If you do a search you'll find my extensive review between rejex and zaino as it might give you some additional information and insight as to why I picked zaino.

Thank you for your responses, especially Mike. I am looking for a product that gives durablilty and protection more so than shine. I have read about Zaino, but it appears way too much work for me. I want to complete the job in 1 step, 1 product
Thanks,
Gene

Gene,

Glad I could be of help.

Just as an FYI -

The same steps that I do for zaino, should be the exact same steps used for rejex or any other product for that fact. It's like the old saying goes, "we get out of it, what we put into it".

To compare apples to apples, rejex would be like using zaino Z2. If you didn't want to wait the 12 hours between the first and second coat, then you could use Z2 with the ZFX accelerator.

You mentioned about showing hazing or scratches, you could try to buff them out prior to applying any sort of finish but if you have very minor scratches you could give the Z5 a try.

No matter which product you decide on, spend a little extra time on the prep work and really make that paint stand out.
