C5 hood & trunk emblem cleaning

How do you keep the dirt collecting insides of the hood and trunk emblems clean? Man it's a PITA to dig out the dirt in those things. Any special techniques for cleaning these?

I use compressed air and Q tips..seems to do the trick

I use a soft bristled tooth brush. Q-tips work well getting wax out.

Won't that leave little scratches in the paint?

I removed the rear one. It was way too much work to keep clean and it looks better without it anyway. Th front one use Q-tips and take your time. Once it is clean a quick dusting should take care of it.

I use a soft bristle nylon brush with long bristles, don't remember where I got it, could have been for cleaning teflon pots and pans. They don't leave scratches.

My wife gave me a makeup brush to use for detailing.(A new one)

I have a very soft 100% horsehair small paintbrush that seems to work.

I have had the greatest success using one of those brushes.

I removed both of them. It just looks cleaner without them... besides, I gained 10-15 RWH by ditching the wind resistant emblems

I'm glad somebody else brought this up because I've been wondering the same thing. I've been giving some thought to removing the rear one as well. It's difficult to even see and it almost looks like it was put there as a afterthought.

I like the one in the front. It looks like it belongs there.

Hey, any chance of seeing a pic or two of the rear deck with the emblem removed?

My front bumper has two small holes in it under the emblem.

You need lots of time and patience. I have tried just about everything. One idea that I have used that works pretty well is using detailing clay and working it into those tough areas. But ultimately, time is the key...especially if it was as bad as mine.

By the way, I did not neglect my rear emblem as seen in the pics. When I bought the car, most of it was in pretty rough shape, but like I said, not rushing, taking your time is all that you need

That's why there is different part number for the front and back.

BTW, DJN, great pic of that Electron Blue C5 beauty you have there. Your paint finish is stunning. And, its looks like you have a brand new Volant, or, Volant copy above shroud air intake (one of my personal favorites). Frankly, I have had mine for over four trouble free years now. Very Cool, brother!

You can use Q-tips or just wrap a soft microfiber cloth around your finger and wipe the area that should do the trick.
