Default Crossmember Detailing

Has anyone had any luck making the rear crossmember on a C5 look more presentable? I'm not talking about those "undies" either. My 2001 has nearly 60K miles on it and the rear cross member and control arms look dull and dirty. Has anyone polished these up? Any ideas?

thanks in advance. It's almost waxing season

I hit mine first with a Scotchbrite rotary sanding wheel followed by Mother's Billet polish. Not perfect- but better than before.

Maybe a diluted all-purpose cleaner followed by some #0000 steel wool with metal polish.

There is a guy that did that on the forum here and said it was a lot of work. But turned out great. There is also a place that sells the crossmember and suspension pieces polished.

I thought of that. But will the steel shavings cause the aluminum cross member to rust or appear to rust?
