Default question about pc and pads

Is it worth while for me to use the white pads with a polish or do I need to use the orange pad and so on? Reason I am asking is because my only orange pad decided to fail. And I have plenty of white pads. Also, is there any place locally where I can purchase pads from and not have to go online to do so? Located in the Chicago Suburbs. Thanks for any input ladies and gents as to why or why not I can us the white pads.

I prefer the white pads for 99% of my work. I find the orange pad leaves some micro marring on dark colors when used with a PC. If it is bad enough to warrant using an orange pad I usually just break out the rotary. I find it is much quicker and easier fixing severe damage with a rotary and just following up with my PC than trying to remove significant damage with an orange pad and a PC and then having to try to remove the micro marring left by the cutting pad with a polishing pad.

Unless your finish is really bad the white pads will work perfectly.

Great thanks for the quick response. Looks like I can get back to work on the car after the regular 8-4 job

since I'm stuck with only a PC, without a rotary buffer, I do have to use the orange pad with Menzerna IP if I want to get out any scratching. My theory is that the white pads are ok for scratchx (occaisinonally I use this for light water spot removal), Menzerna FP II, or 3M 39009 -- when I"m using these just to polish the finish but not to remove visible scratching.

It sounds to me like that's what you're doing, so you're ok. But definitely put in an order for a couple of orange pads -- eventually you'll need them for scratches or swirls.
