Default Cleaning under the hood

I am new to the Vette world, and looking to make mine look as good as possible all the time. Have been reading a ton on the forum and learned a great deal about cleaning the exterior and interior.

The one area I have not read much on is the engine area. What do you use to keep the engine bay, fuel rail covers, etc. clean?

Thanks and show me some goods if you can!

As long as its clean right now, it will be very easy to maintain. Just use a rag with some simple green mixture and wipe things down every time you wash the car. It'll take an extra couple of minutes but it will save you many headaches in the long run. IM sure the pros will chime in here with better tips

I agree with this also. On cold snowy days like today, I can go out to the garage, pop the hood, and wipe down the engine and other places under the hood. It's a nice way to pass an afternoon.

these guys are clearly in the know. Detail the engine as part of your weekly cleaning, and you will never need a hard clean. Painted items can we waxed and polished and a spray detailer with carnuba (Pinnacles Crystal Mist) or sealant (Klasse AIO) is a nice choice for protection. Highly diluted APC is an easy wipe down for dirty items, and grimey parts. Wheel dressing can be used to dress vacuum lines and rubber molding. Just stay away from silicone that might degrade them, something like 303 Protectant does the trick.

Do you have a kit that includes these products all under one package?

I use Stoner's Trim Shine on the interior/under the hood plastics. Works excellent and is very durable.

not really I am afraid (gotta run that one by the home office). I know you are considering one of our finish detailing kits on another post, you might wanna pick one that contains these items within it (Klasse AIO, Crystal Mist) and add a bottle of APC, and 303 protectant to it as necessary.

I will use an air compressor. What parts of the engine compartment can you use Klasse AIO and Klasse Sealant on and what about 303?

I use a cotton inspection glove and wipe the engine area down.

When I have extra time separate from washing the C-6

What do you guys use for the hood liner?
How do you keep dust from sticking to it, and what do you use for cleaning?

Which engine parts do you use the Klasse AIO on? The 303 would be for the hoses?

When you use simple green what is the mixture ratio of water? Which underhood parts do you use this on?

I use a 20-80 mix. 20% simple green and 80% water. I even use less simple green if there isnt a grime build up and I always try to rinse and wipe down with a clean rag so that there isnt any simple green residue left.
