Default Zaino Users ?

I bought a PR C6 in Dec 2004. Washed with dawn clay barred and put on 2 coats of Z5 and 2 coats of Z2. This pas summer added three more coats of Z5 and 3 costs of Z2.

Asked Sal if there was a need to remove old zaino. He answered no and there was no need to use Dawn again. If one wanted to remove old Zaino and re Clay-Bar prior to adding more coats what would be best way. Will Dawn and Clay Bar remove old coats of Z5 and Z2. I have also heard of using 50/50 solution of water and alcohol.

How often should one clay bar there car and how and do you remove old zaino? Or do you just keep adding more coats of Zaino without removing old coats.

Thansk for the help.

I never remove old coats unless I need to polish/remove some scratches or swirls in which case the ssr would remove it. Alchohol and water or prep-sol will also remove it.

Clay will also remove some but not all of your Zaino. I would do the baggie test yearly to see if claying is needed.

I clay the entire car once a year and "spot clay" through out the year.

Unless you leave the car outside 24x7, you probably will have some Zaino protection still on the car after 6 months.

If the car doesn't bead water at all, you should start over with the Dawn bath, etc., etc., etc.

Don't attempt to remove previous layers of Zaino. If you do, you're removing any base-layer you have left on the paint. Zaino is 99% optically clear. It will not "yellow" like the build-up of the old pure carnuaba products.

There is no reason to remove previous layers of Zaino, for the reasons stated above. There is no reason to ever use Dawn again. It is only used to remove old wax so the Zaino will bond to the paint. Dawn won't remove the Zaino. I do a complete claying when the weather breaks and then only the areas that need it, when they need it. Claying will remove a slight amount of Zaino.
