No matter what, wash the car first.

If it needs claying, if the finish doesn't feel smooth, clay it with Z18 using either Z6 as a lube, or some Z7 mixed with water.

You didn't buy a polish, so you will not be able to clean or remove swirls unless you have a non-Zaino product. If so and you need to use it, use it now.

If you used something, you should probably wash the car again with Z7, or wipe it down with 50/50 water/rubbing alcohol, or at the very least wipe it down with Z6. Otherwise, move along to the next step.

Then, mix about 1/2 an ounce of Z5 or Z2 Pro with one or two drops of ZFX, and use it on the car in the same way you'd use a wax.

Let it dry to a haze, should probably take 15+ minutes, and buff it off with a clean soft towel.

If you want to apply up to two more coats (you will probably still have plenty mixed product left), wipe the car down with Z6 and apply the Z5 or Z2 Pro you previously mixed with ZFX on the car again. Again wait for it to haze, buff, and repeat if desired. Zaino suggests no more than 3 ZFX-enabled coats in a day.

Then you are done. Pour out any leftover mixed product and clean out the container. Enjoy a shiny car.

Edit: I see this got moved from the C4 section, so I'm sure you'll get all the help you could need.

You're correct. This is not anything like a simple wax. Zaino goes to great detail to tell you how to properly prepare the paint before applying the Z2Pro, which is the final sealant step, similar to a traditional wax. But before you go sealing up the paint, you need to do other stuff first.
  • wash the car - use dawn dishwashing liquid just this first time, to strip off all your old carnauba wax
  • remove any stuck on paint contaminants. The z18 clay bar does this - the bad stuff sticks to the clay when you rub the clay over the surface of the paint. Be sure to use SHORT strokes so you'll notice if you're scratching the paint. Throw the bar away if you drop it on the ground. And use z6, or some z7 as a llubricant .
  • wash again with z7
  • Then use a porter Cable 7424 to remove swirlmarks if you have this problem.
  • then I use Z5/Zfx for two coats. I use 3 drops zfx in 1/2 ounce of z5 - that's enough to do my vette twice.
  • after each coat of zfx, wipe with z6
  • the next day, do a coat of z2Pro/zfx (3 drops in zfx in 1/2 ounce of z2pro).
  • wipe with z6
  • do second coat of z2pro/zfx right away
  • do final wipe with z8
  • done !
  • put duct tape around head, securing eyeballs firmly into cranium so they don't pop out.
  • poke hole in duct tape so you can see the car
  • gaze lovingly at your baby.

It is most important to have the eyeballs firmly secured. I take no responsibility if one one or both eyeballs jump right out of your head and roll across the street and get scratched by road dirt. They are also very difficult to re-insert once they get road dirt on them. Some zaino experts also suggest that once an eyeball hits the ground , you are also better off just throwing it away and buying a new one, rather than trying to clean it.

also see application tips here

in the future, only wash with z7 - do not use other commercial washes. for about 6 months or more, all you'll have to do is wash with z7, then dry, and do a light spray of z6 or z8 and wipe off -- the gloss will be fantastic. After 6 or 8 months, apply another layer of z2pro.
