Default Oxadation on my Trans am

i have oxidation now on my front bumper area (see pic below) and its driving me nuts.. hate looking at it...

im eventually getting it re-painted... probably with my tax return but trying to make it look better for now...

would a claybar system like from Zaino work for something like this? or does anyone happen to know of anything else that could just help it? i know it wont be perfect, but im looking for even slightly better. Thanks

JOe

What you are seeing there is clearcoat failure, not really oxidation. Claying won't do anything for that. Some wetsanding and compounding/polishing will be a temporary fix.

If what I see is primer ... you might not even stand a chance with compound and wetsanding. I would suggest painting it ... or looking for a replacement cap from a damaged T/A. With the hard lines, you could easily have a body shop paint it and cut into the rest of the front for 50.00-75.00 . What year ?? I had a 95 Ram Air with the same front just different hood. LT1 ... baby !

YUP... claybar didnt do a thing just had to try...

i actually used "Turtlewax" colored wax BLACK... kinda filled in the white... the white really started to show after i waxed it last... when it Hazed up, i couldnt get it out of the tiny pits...

now that the wax is black and hazez black the black is just kinda stuck in there...

it flat out needs to be re-painted i guess... i have a new ramair hood on order so i guess i'll just have it painted along with the hood..

Thanks for the reply's though... do appreciate it..

It looks as if the nose was "protected" with one of those black vinyl bra's and left unchecked for some time. I've see them wear right through the clear, color, and primer. Not saying that this is the case here bit the rest of the car, from what I can see, looks pretty good.

I think you'll need to have this professionally restored, paint and clear.

This is my opinion, something that I am an authority on.
