Those of you that use the California duster. How often do you 'clean' the duster and what method do you use? thanks in advance.

I don't clean mine. I just give it a good shake after each panel.

They aren't meant to be cleaned.

Yes, they are meant to be cleaned. Follow the directions about washing and drying.

If that's too much of a hassle, they're so cheap, just buy a new one!

The manufacturer claims they work better as they get a little older. I have never cleaned mine and just shake it out. The only thing I notice that reduces it's performance is when they get a little moist because of high humidity. When I buy a new one I sit it on a newspaper for a day to take some of the excess oiliness out of it. They really work well. I went almost a year without washing the car. Just the duster and Z-6. (No rain)

I have had mine for 20 years and only shake it out. When I purchased the store had one that was BLACK with dirt and claimed it still performed. Do not wash. Keep it just shake it out.

My duster is over 2 years old and black as coal. Have never washed it. The dirtier it gets the better job it does.

About once a month just run the vacuum over it and it will remove any loose particles. It will last for years. Wouldn't own black without one.

Mine ended up in the TRASH because it left wax streaks on the car. They wax the strands to pick up the dust. I was also concerned that dust held by the wax could scratch the car. No matter, I now use a damp cloth and I am VERY happy with the results.

This is caused from using the duster on hot paint or not setting the duster on newspaper when new to absorb the excess wax.

I did lay it out in the hot California Sun on newspaper for two days. It was a waste of my money. If they were free, I wouldn't want one.

There is such thing as user error. Many people use them successfully.

If it's not for you, that's cool.

I like it & have used it since Jan of last year. . I live in the dust bowl capital - West Texas. I haven't clean it. Just shake it out every so often.
