Default Lars's trip to TO...

Ok...i spoke to Lars and here is the run down....keeping it to a simple tuning session ie. distributors and carbs, we are maxed at 6 cars...that includes swapping carbs if you want to change the one on your car now.if there are a few cars that can be tuned up quickly as they dont need too much tlc, i think we could squeeze one more, but dont count on it.

the location would be best if it were somewhere close to a highway...the reason being that it would be a good idea to "test" your tuning on the highway instead of around the city streets...

Lars has every other weekend as a long weekend...so he would arrive thursday afternoon....this gives Lars and his wife the day on friday in town and then a dinner get together with whoever would like to attend...

Saturday is the tuning day with a get together at the end for dinner then they fly out on sunday.....

as for the 6 cars on the list, we can do it two ways....we can go by the original list and take the first six cars, or we can pick names from a draw...
if we do a draw, i think the eligible cars to be choosen from should be guys from the "shark pack" that attend cruises and dyno days from the past few years...

i dont think this should be an open call to anyone with a Vette....

before we pick a date we need to pick the cars that are going to be worked on..those guys will have the say as to which date...i think the earlier the better...no point in doing this in late august and only having a few weeks to enjoy the new power gains courtesy of Lars...

if we vote to do a draw for the cars, then a by will be given to Stewart as he started this idea and a by to whoever comes up with the location for the day...if there are multiple guys that can host the saturday tuning event, the guys that are having their cars tuned will decide on the best location...
and a by to 75Rag for the place to stay...this leaves 3 open spots

my brother has offered his place in Milton...he is about 4 minutes from the 401....

i think that is it for now...so let's decide which way we are going to choose the 6 cars as a start...voice your opinions please....

Mike, I agree with what you've suggested.

My vote would be that the Shark Pack members draw lots.

What ever the group decides, I will abide by that. But my vote would be to pick the first six cars on the original list, reason being I am the third one on that list. If the draw is given to the original Shark Pack, do I qualify? I have been an "official" member since August 2002. :yesnod:

Oh, just remembered.... Make sure Lars is not traveling with many tools. I know whenever I go to US, I have to ship any/all tools in advance. They don't let you cross the border with tools cause non-Americans are not allowed to "work" without a permit. Canadian government might have similar rules. Amongst all the people here, we should be able to come up with most tools. Lars can mail some rebuild kits and we should be in business. Ask him what he may need and we will come up with them.

Mike, I dont think Lars will have any border issues if he packs his tools in his checked baggage. I've travelled with lots of wierd stuff in suitcases. (dont ask)
Thanks for the call last night. Its great to see this event coming along.

I've been thinking, since I'm not really that concearned about performance. For me I like the car more for show then go. For that reason I think it would be a waste of Lar's time to tinker with my beast, when there are others in the Shark Pack who want the cars to have as much go as show.

The lottery Mike has suggested sounds the most fair, and if for whatever reason my new motor is not yet installed, my spot can be given away as well.

Ditto on that. Who knows, my Vette may not make the 300 mile drive. My fingers are crossed though :D
