Nice car and super color combination. Tell your friend he is now a part of the "Secret Society of The 64". Drop down to the C1- & C-2 Forum here, there is a ton of knowledge there. Tell your friend to join this forum, he will learn everything about that car right here, no mechanic can duplicate the experience of this forum.

Nice car, Avgas is still available at airports if you know someone there, think it's about $2/ltr but it's been a while since I bought it. He should not need it unless he's running a 365 hp. but even those can be detuned to run ok on 92 Octane. He will need a zinc additive for his oil as they have removed it from most conventional oils. EOS is an additive I used, got it from GM parts. Shell Rotella is one oil that is higher in zinc also, that's what I used.

I used to be concerned : bought leaded race fuel, Av gas, valve recession additive for agricultural eqmt etc - now I just run Shell Gold and everything is fine.
Oil that is a concern - most common / easiest to find higher zinc oils are diesel oils : Mobil or Shell Rotella.
I'm still have enough CASE I/H high zinc oil for a couple of more years.
(Hopefully this post is deemed acceptable by the "brains" on this forum) LOL

If he is looking for lead substitute for his valves - tell him not to worry about it - seems like everyone's concerns turned out to be unfounded.
