Battery for my C6
Time to look for a new battery for my 08. My buddy replaced his for his 06 at a Dealer and cost him around $220.00. Are there better places to pick one up then a dealer or are all Delco a set price Ontario wide?

If you're dropping the extra coin for an AGM type then take a look at Odyssey before buying something else. One of the Canadian vendors listed them in a post a while back and the prices were quite reasonable.

$220 sounds way too pricey, go to Walmart and pick up the Eveready battery there for about $100-120, I've used these batteries for years on many cars and they last a long time.

For about the same price you can get an Optima Yellow top. You buy way longer life, way higher cranking capacity, and no fluids thereby virtually eliminating any acid issues.
I was, and am, so conviced of their merit I actually bought one to replace a good battery.

I've bought the Kirkland brand at Costco for my daily drivers. No issues & a good life span.Consumers reports magazine rates them at the top of the list.Don't know who the manufacturer is.Before you buy tho, check the date of manufacture on the battery to get the freshest possible one.You don't wnat one that's been on the shelf for a couple of years.

Yesterday morning I was at the Canadian Distributor for Odyssey in Hamilton to get a warranty return on a battery I'd bought for my '75 Silverado nearly four years ago. They seem like really good people. My truck doesn't have high electrical requirements, but it's a smallish battery and I just wanted the best/least trouble for when we go camping and do stuff that's sometimes way out in nowhere.
This was the first Odyssey I bought and is likely heavily sulfated - but at 3.5 years old, seldom used, switched off (no parasitic draw) AND maintained on a charger over the winter it should not have crapped out.
For comparison, the Optima yellow top I have in the Corvette has lasted me now just over 8 years and is still troublefree. For my DD's, boat and Airstream trailer I buy from Walmart or Costco. The Interstate in the Audi has been 6 years trouble free.
My understanding is that Optima are no longer being made with the same high standard / purity of lead /etc as they used to be. I like AGM for the Corvette and plan to replace the Optima with an Odyssey IF they honour my warranty (I'm calling the head office tomorrow to ask that they do.)
