Anyone here using Hagerty Insurance Canada?
I'm pretty sure I'm paying 900$+ for a years insurance on my 1999 Coupe - was wondering if anyone else has gone to "classic" insurance persay - and has had good or bad reviews for their service?
Any other pros / cons to think about splitting one car off a three car insurance policy?
*admins - delete the name of the company if it's a problem for you.

I talked to a kid representing Hagerty at a swap meet last year. I told him what I had: 1936 Ford coupe and a 1963 Corvette convertible.
He gave me a quote that was way less than what I was paying.
I talked to my insurance broker and she dealt with Hagerty on my behalf.
As it turns out they didn't want insure my '36 because it's been modified. However, they did provide a quote. It was double what I was paying!
I stayed with Dominion of Canada and it works out to be about $1000 per year for both cars.

I use hagerty for my '78 Vette. Different insurer for my DD'ers.
Renewed it last week. $240 including taxes. 2750km limit annually. $18,000 replacement value. $300 deductible.
More replacement value, more km lower deductible = more premiums.
I deal through my home and auto broker as well. But the renewal always comes direct from hagerty.
"Classic" coverage is only available when a vehicle is a certain number of years old. "Collector or specialty" vehicles are something different, between classic and daily driver.
Never had a claim so cannot comment on that experience.
My dad told me the insurance is not something you buy based solely on price. Cheaper isn't always better.

I use Hagerty for my 77.
Went up a bit this year $247. I told them I'd drive about 5k per season...I took the premium plan ...agreed value....free tow for the first 80km...first $125 for fuel delivery, battery jump, tire change or lock out...unlimited road side assistance calls.

I have Hagerty on my 78.... They just jacked my rates up 20% this year with no charges or claims.... they just said it was due to claim increases in general and there was nothing they could/would do about it. I am now $589 for the year for my modified 78 with an agreed upon value of 20K.
I am considering putting it back with my regular insurance provider. If I only insure it for 6 months of driving/ fire and theft for the rest of the year.... it'll come out cheaper.

Hagerty has two kinds of policies for classic cars. Silver wheels for factory stock vehicles, which they have some great rates and coverage. They also have what is called Custom wheels for any modified classic vehicles, which premiums are a little higher rate. I have used them for years, they have merged with what use to be Lant Insurance and now go by Hagerty Ins.

I have my 78 Vette on my regular car insurance through RSA. I plan on another 4-5 k road trip this year and they won't cover that. As well I've been with my company for quite a few years now and for the 6 months I use the Vette it works out about the same and I know what to expect.

For giggles I just completed the Hagerty online quote tool.
"Ontario"
'78 unmodified Corvette.
2750km (same as I have now)
17000 replacement value (not $18k as i posted above)
No towing (I have CAA) benefits
1 Million bodily injury
1 million Property damage
$100 Comp deductible
$300 Collision deductible
My current premium is $246.
Online quote for same coverage (exactly, I double checked) $267
Why the difference? No idea. Perhaps better rates for clients dealing through a (preferred?) broker? Claims free discounts from DD auto policy?
My premiums:
BI $12
PD $2
Acc Benefits $20
Uninsured Auto $2
Direct Comp PD $17
Loss and Damage:
$100 comp deductible, $77
$300 Collision ded, $72
OPCF Fam Protection, $4
No towing options
= $206 plus $40 hagerty "fee"
$246.
ONLINE:
BI $13
PD $2
AB $22
Unisured Auto $2
Dir Comp PD $19
Fam Pro $4
$100 comp ded $85
$300 coll ded $80
No towing option
=$227 plus $40 hagerty "fee"
$267.
Same info but with a 5000km limit, premiums is still $267.
7500km limit, still $267.
Like I posted above, Ive never needed to submit a claim so I cannot speak to the "customer assistance" or "claims" aspects of Hagerty (Which use Elite Insurance as their underwriter BTW).

I have my 98 C5 and 65 Impala with Hagerty. I think both were around $600 last summer for the coverage. The C5 was much cheaper than the 65 because the 65 is modified. Splitting the C5 off to it's own policy shouldn't affect the other vehicles. The insurance companies give you the rate to insure the first vehicle and then you get a reduced rate for extra vehicles. But, if you have 3 drivers then the 3 vehicles you insure are all considered as primary transportation for those drivers so you don't get a cheap rate to add an extra vehicle.

I used Silver Wheels (Lant Ins.) back in 2006 when I had my C3, and I used to pay about $200/yr. They did require an appraisal, the vehicle had to be non-mod, and could not be a daily driver.
I never had any issues, during the 4yrs that I had my car.

Just renewed with Hagerty and added their roadside assist. They guarantee a flatbed so we'll drop our CAA associate membership. We have 1940 and our 1977 Corvette with Hagerty and are very satisfied.

I have used Lant for years no claims no problems. Lant or Silverwheels is a broker dealing with or through Hagarty. Most classic insurers now only require an appraisal first time around for agreed value. Then it is agreed value year after year unless you increase the value. My 65 rate was $528. the last 3 years.
I have a friend who has a 69 Chevelle with a 502 in it . He is insured through Lant, he had a none fault crash a few years ago, left front damage. He sent the car to the original painter/body shop in Ottawa at Lants suggestion. He said he could not have been happer with Lants service.

Just got my Hagerty renewal... reading some of the posts here, premiums seem to be fairly variable.
On my 1980, agreed value of $14,600, annual km of 2500, $100 deductible on both Comp and Collision, no roadside assistance, it's now $196 plus the $40 Hagarty Fee = $236 / Year
Last year it was $ 166 + $40 = $206
So it's gone up 18% !! I'll have to call and find out why, and perhaps bump up my deductibles to try and bring it down to last years rate.
(overall though, still less than what TD was charging when I had it on my regular policy)

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
Johnson Inc doesn't deal directly with Hagerty - but did suggest a company called Echelon. Need to get an appraisal (which wouldn't be terrible to have for sale purposes), and then they'll give a quote.

I'm looking elsewhere now.. been with Lant for over 5 years and started my '88 on the silver wheels plan. Was paying a little under $200 for the '88.
I upgraded to a '96 Grand Sport last year and found out that they were using the Hagerty agreed upon value. I was paying for about $450 last year. Got the new price for this year and it jumped to $660.
Apparently they've been having a lot of claims with late model cars and thats why they've upped the rates..
$200 in one year.. man. Gone are the good old days of decent insurance for my garage queen.
I think its time to kick Lant to the curb and move on over to echelon.
I would be more than interested in anyone giving me the number of a decent broker who knows cars. I just got off the phone with Secure Insurance who claims they are a collector car insurance company, I had to sit on the phone with the broker for 30 minutes explaining that I need collector insurance.. total was of time. She was trying to get me regular insurance and just didn't understand what having a car that is literally an extension of yourself was.
Sad to say, but it seems with greed driven companies like Hagerty out there.. They will continue to up our rates yearly because of the few bad apples who misuse this type of insurance.
Anyways.. my rant is over.. anyone have a good broker they can suggest?
