Kidneyboy's Epic Road Trip
Well it's been a long time coming but on Wed. July 3 my long-awaited Corvette road trip begins. As many of you know I bought my car about 6 weeks after having a kidney transplant 9 years ago, with the hopes of turning the wreck it was into the car it is now; only a lot sooner. My health and of course $ continued to interrupt that process and over the past two summers I haven't even put 5k on the car but have managed to spend some $ and the car is now, thanks to Rob and the boys at Champion Motors, good to go.
I have always wanted to drive my C3 Corvette from Toronto to Winnipeg and visit family and friends who live there. I intend, all things being equal, to continue on to Calgary where I grew up to visit friends and more family. Then make my way back here no specific route picked as yet.
I have been planning or at least dreaming about this for years and as this summer began I knew it had to be now. I didn't say anything to anyone because I didn't want to jinx anything but I just got the car back from Champion and with a Rob Ing clean bill of health my plans were solidified.
I hope to document my trip on FB as I go with lots of updates and pics. I will try and post here on a daily basis just as a "newsy" update hopefully with pics if I can figure out how.
My route is arranged so I'm not driving long days, more around 5-6 hours/day on the road. That takes me 4 days through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and N.Dakota. I am getting more pumped as I write this because now it is a reality.

You and Valerie might like to use a laptop w/Microsoft Streets and Trips with a little magnetic GPS that plugs into the USB port.
We find with this trip planner/maps you can follow along live to keep on schedule without missing fun scenic detours along more interesting (and sometimes even faster) roads. It's also great to use some hotel's local wifi when you pull into some unexpected town and spontaneously decide to stay the night. You can check reviews and secure great rates without even getting out of the car.
At the same time, you'll find a list of points of interest like wineries, museums, parks, "special" spots and more.
Be glad to loan you our setup if you'd like!
Gonna be a great trip!

Just an FYI: Valerie's not coming for the car ride. She plans to fly in and out she has no vacation time left. I'm going to miss her but they ride will be cool going solo.

Sounds great Mike. You're going to be very busy for the next few days and they will go very quickly. Make sure you take Paul up on his offer. It will just add another dimension to the trip.
I will look forward to your updates.

Have you thought about contacting some corvette clubs along the way, that could lead to some great people and times.
