Fastest I had my 72 up to was 142 mph on a run with a '96 and '00. I passed the '96 (he said he was doing 125 mph) and he had 1 hand on the wheel and adjusting his stereo with the other, passing the C5 he had 1 hand on the wheel, playing with both his stereo and cell. Me on the other hand was holding on for dear life as sounded like I was in a hurricane and realized my son was filming it all and if my wife found out there would have been no point in rtn from Grand Bend track later in the afternoon. that would have been fall of '01 after the 383 build and before SurFast80 missed a shift and my tach hit over 8k. Nowadays no more track time with excessive high speed runs in the 72.

We were just going to buy a waterfront condo for investment and to rent out when it happened.
I was sole bread winner for family of four - but having lived prudently and with a minimum of toys this wasn't going to cause a major crisis in our life or have to sell off anything - we didn't have anything to sell off LOL and my Vette ain't going anywhere !
The big concern was not getting a pension like my workmates who by virtue of being a couple of years older were eligible for "packages" and early pensions - now that sucked !!
Hopefully you can hang-on or move into something else with the "city" to enable you to retire and keep your pension.
Try to not let it get you down (yeah right !) and continue on with your "normal" life as best you can.

I wondered about reserving now, for both the hotels and the ferry.
At what point do we "cut-off" participation? Or do we at all?
For those willing to committ now, PM me your email addresses and I'll send the Tobermory hotel resevation information (When I get the reservation quote code!) and I don't see any harm in reserving now.
updated roll call in post #1.
Please confirm and sorry if I missed anybody, let me know and I'll add ya.
(dont forget the +1's)

Don't know if you can cut-off participation : threaten people with not receiving goody bags or motel discount LOL.
You've lead everyone "to water" it's up to them now to continue and act on it.
No sympathy for laggards (Mike you did all the work) !
Yeah 10 -12 max ? would keep things manageable for lunch and gas stops etc.

I participated in a cruise a few years ago. It was originally scheduled for a saturday, about 100 cars were anticipated. Saturday rained out, on sunday there were about 20 cars or so, much better, but still a nightmare for lunch parking, gas and of course some idiots attracting unwanted LEO attention for the rest of us.

Yeah we're on the same page there.
I see clowns trying to organize caravans to the museum etc 50 - 100 (or more) cars ?! making like it's some great deal.
Get real !! - it's just going to be rolling traffic jam / exercise in frustration LOL !
Go ahead and cut it off as per your thoughts - no argument here !

I really don't see "over" participation as any kind of a problem at all. If 20 register then only 15 will come; it's the nature of the beast. The biggest event ever was the Vette Day at Legendary Motors, I'll bety there were a couple hundred cars there that day some from the U.S. as well. This cruise, I believe, may be a bit less attended.

Yeah I hear yah - a number of years ago I was down the same road : 24 years with 'Hydro and they closed down our fleet shop / engineering dept.

because this is an open forum , i must be careful what i say...
got my letter jan 10 that after 23 years service my job is contracted out mar 1st
it has been weeks of miserable hell & i will only go into it , in person....
still have 1 12 hour shift wed & i have no clue if i will remain employed, or to put to pasture.
The only good thing is that it has taught me to be sensitive, in future to folk that go thru this...especially if close to 60 years of age
below, sub-human treatment...
