Default Motomaster Eliminator Maintainer...

Has anyone ever use this particular maintainer? Its the 34.99 one that will likely go on sale.

I'm not entirely certain it's doing what I expect it will. Hopefully I'll get the car started sooner or later.

Thanks

Tim

Not this model, I bought the $60 model on sale for $30 and I have been using it this year and it is working fine, I tried starting the car last weekend and all was good.

Do you ever get the "charged" light?

I just hooked it up. Car was sitting for a week at -19 and it wouldn't start. I think it's the original battery from 99.

Charger has been hooked up for an hour or so. I'll try starting it in the morning and see what happens. I'd like to get er over to the gas station to fill up.

if it is the original battery then you had better get a new one before you get stuck somewhere as it won't hold much charge

Why don't you just boost the car?

I did last Saturday but it wouldn't hold the charge with the cold.

So after 8 hours successful startup.
Now what. Leave the tender on, or just hook it up a day or two in advance of wanting to start her up... Or leave it all winter?

Either leave it on or connect it a few days about every 2 weeks. I pull all my batteries and just rotate a Ctek between them every 3 or 4 weeks.

I kept a Ctek on my Impala for 2 winters and there was some acid damage around the battery by the end of the second winter. The Ctek doesn't seem to boil out the acid so bad the battery level is low but it still seems to cause enough bubbling to produce a little acid around the battery. Just saying, a maintainer is good for the battery but it could cause a little acid damage around it.

I bought this exact battery tender for my car last summer, I paid $34.99 for it but then the very next week it went on sale for $19.99 so I brought my receipt into customer service and Canadian Tire refunded me the difference. Nice! It's doing a great job so far, there have been times where I haven't driven my car for 3 weeks and when I fire it up the battery is nice and strong.

I would for SURE buy a new battery once driving season hits if I were you. (If it's your original battery). Not fun having to wait around for a boost. Happened to me last season, and my battery was only 4 years old.

I bought the motomaster one and ultimately took it back and bought a ctec which works flawlessly. The motomaster didn't.

I've got two of them and they work perfectly. One for the vette and the other for my winch battery from the car trailer.

They maintain only, not boost to recharge/boost a dead battery.

Started the vette up yesterday to take into the shop for winter mods and fired right up

Every one has their favourite charger and will spend $19.99 (like I did when they went on sale) to over $100.00. The cheaper version works exactly how I need it to. I would rather spend my money on mods...

just wouldn't pump power and I had it hooked up right. I suppose I could have gotten another but at stage of my life I get pissed off just having to make another trip.
The CTEC has a really nice menu with lights for using on gel cells, motorcycle batteries and the like. Its just a better unit.

I had to jiggle the wire to the battery clips to get mine to start pushing power. It was just cycling between Charging & Charged.

I'd take the battery out, or use the round battery clip adapters, but I'm not really confident working around batteries. Don't really want to short myself out.
