Greg, i understand your point and many thanks for clearing up, if you dont know insurance than nobody knows, but with recent changes which i have not gone thru all of em, but what i saw was you cant fool around much, as you said 35k in Toronto or 3500 only in london for the same doctors visit...so in lieu of this do you think insurance shoudl be less because they cant be falsly claimed way too much anymore under new laws?

And also since our dollar is almost same as USD and after over a year we still neck to neck with USD, do you think our insurance should be less by atleast 20%, what do you think? and same goes for other purchases which i will not go off track to stay within OP's insurance topic.

I pay $225 month for full coverage on a 1999 vette and a 2005 CTS-V,
I dropped State Farm which I had for 27years as they kept on going up
and wanted $450 a month for both cars. I have more insurance and a
smaller deductible for less money, go figure?

for the last 15 yrs,,5 or 6 new vehicles,,I have gotten insurance quotes before buying. At the time,2005,they said the cavalier was one of the cheapest to insure,go figure,,,,it may cost more for an "unsafe" vehicle,,,but you do not want one that thiefs target,,,you will pay a premium,,,,,,

With your insurance rates, you should not be storing any, that is ridiculously cheap, bring that insurance and i will buy another vette and that would be DD.

Insurance!!! HUH!!!

You think the cars are bad? Try insuring a superbike! And that's how we were all introduced my friends... Found it outrageous to pay $2500 bucks for a year with no coverage. Called on a c5 z and they told me $1280 full coverage! Nedless to say sold the bike. Lol
Recently I moved brokers, one of the reasons was my broker told me " we have many policies we can't look at everyones" soooo one guy who happens to be on this post took care of my insurance needs and I am as happy as one can be given the circumstances. It really is influenced by where you live though... If there are tickets on your record? That's gonna leave a mark. I was also told that alot of companies raised their rates recently. My gtr was 1800 and is closer to 2k now. It's getting ugly out there... All the luck Dave hope you find something cheaper or at least fair. It's tough, I pay close to 5 grand for all my cars... It sickens me!!!

I dropped State Farm after 19 years last year. Tired of my rates going up all the time despite my great record. I even gave them "warning" I would leave after asking a few times why it was going up, but didn't do squat.

They need to do something about this insurance fraud crap. It can't really be that hard to get actual proof of injury. If it walks and talks like a duck, it is. These scammers need to be prosecuted big time.

I pay $85/month with $500 comp. and $1000 collision deductible for an 08 Z06 without mods with Meloche Monnex. 2000 km business use is included. I have 4 cars and my house insured with them. I have never had an accident and am 54.

I was looking at modded cars to buy but could not find insurance that would cover them. Passed up supercharged and cammed (emissions issues) Zs

.
Does anybody know if the State Farm Agents have nothing to lose if you switch your insurance to another company? Do they not get ongoing fees/commission for existing customers?

State Farm agents are paid commission on new business and renewals. The percentages vary, but if they lose a client, they lose the commission on that policy. The one issue a State Farm agent faces is they work for the company and the company dictates the pricing and guidelines. If you're unhappy with the pricing, there is nothing the agent can do because they can't change the rates.

Thanks, the agents have always made it sound like to me that they receive no comp on existing business.

Through group insurance at work I pay 400/yr on my 95 at agreed appraisal value which I had to provide when I bought my car. I get some refund cheque when I remove the collision insurance over the winter, I don't remember the amount they send me. They won't allow me to remove insurance completely in the winter. I did one year and they gave me a hard time re-insuring it in the spring. This is with 2M coverage and 750 deductible. House and multiple car insurance is with the same company.

We pay about the same for our minivan. I think the van is 435/yearly.

Thanks for the responses. Just to let you know I have no tickets or accidents like most. I pay around $1400.00 for EACH of my 02 Jetta, 98 Accord and 07 GMC pick-up. I think I should look around.

Dave
