flappy paddle shifter coming to Z06?
Found this and looks like there could be a change. I love the manual gear box but Ferrari and Lambo's etc have very quick auto tranny's, anyway, interesting video

A buddy has the BMW M3 with the dual clutch and has always been adamant that a manual tranny was better till he tried the dual clutch auto, now he would be hard pressed to to go back to the manual.

That way I could have the stick I like and my wife who doesn't drive stick (yet) could drive it too.
Here's a R&T article comparing the trans types: http://www.roadandtrack.com/auto-new...hift-gearboxes

A dual mode manual would be nice. Shift normally if you want, go to paddle mode for when you don't.

A dual clutch does not have a "stick" - it still only use paddles. A dual clutch system is a paddle-type tranny that is different from other paddle-type trannies in that two clutches are used instead of just one so that one clutch is driving the car in the gear currently selected while the other clutch is already engaged in the next gear. When you hit the paddle to shift up a gear, the second clutch takes over in the higher gear while the other clutch now sets up with the next higher gear - and so on....all of this equals faster shifts...

I have to agree though.... as nice as the SST is a true manual gearbox is the biggest reason why I enjoy the Z06! I like the Z06 BECAUSE you can only get it in manual. But then GM hasn't exactly been in the forefront of good business decisions when it comes to Corvette (as evidenced with LG Motorsports). If the Corvette goes this direction I'd much rather drive a GTR then. At least you have AWD and a kick *** interior with gobs of power vs cheap plastic.

Your comment makes me laugh. Globs of power? Have you looked at the power ratings of the cars in question?
If an interior matter to you that much, then there's a tuner in Vaughan that will make a Vette interior rival any Porche, Ferrari or Bently, let alone a GT-R.
For those of you that are frowning upon a DCT, don't knock it until you try it.
Had something similar to a DCT tranny in my BMW M3 I used to have called the SMG. No where as refined or advanced as the current DCT's and I'd pay a pretty penny if it was available in the Vette. Adds an unexpected dimension to the driving experience.

Yep, them was my comments and I stand by them. Some things Corvette needs to leave alone and an Automatic in a Z06 from factory would make me heave. If that does happen I believe there are better choices out there but as long as the Z06 is a manual gearbox then I will Drive a vette. If you compare interiors of cars half the Vette's price by GM they are better. For a premium Halo car it should be better for the price being charged. Z06 and GTR are similar in price yet look at the technology you get in the GTR. Its a complete package which is where GM should have fixed this out of the gate. I happen to love big engines with RWD and stick. Take that combo away and I'd move in a heart beat.
