So I did my first bodybuilding contest in 21 years yesterday....
It's been 21 years since I did my first show. At the age of 37 I decided to get ready and do my first "Masters" (40-50 years old) bodybuilding show. It was a three year plan .....bulk up for two years....get as big, fat and powerful as possible and then take all of 2010 to diet down and do the show Nov. 13th of this year. Well....I succeeded in getting big...fat...and powerful. December 23rd of last year and at my strongest I was able to bench 560 lbs for a hard rep. I engorged myself X-mas and ate everything in sight . Boxing day I started my diet....I was 328 lbs
Dec. 26th, 2009. 328lbs:
Feb. 4th, 2010. 295 lbs:
June 1st, 2010. 260 lbs:
August 1st, 2010. 241 lbs:
September 15th, 2010. 232 lbs:
October 15th, 2010. 225 lbs:
November 12th, 2010. 217 lbs and ready to rumble !!!
November 13th, 2010...the night of the show....(sorry for the quality of the pic...I don't have the official CD being offered by the New Brunswick Federation yet)
All in all I took 4th place in my division. I learned a lot from myself over the last year. First off....there was no need to bulk up to 320+ lbs. It was hard on the body to take it all off. Second....the body will do anything the mind will tell it. Finally and last of all...I will train harder and more diligent this year and I'll win the contest outright next November 13th !!
Thanks for viewing....it's been a long year !!
..and hey....I cut 100 lbs off the weight of my corvette bwhahahhahahahahahahah

Holy crap Mike, I wouldn't mess with you at any weight class....
Kudos on your persistence and ability to do what you have done. That must take alot of personal resolve, and I wish I could do it

I watched this transformation and it was simply amazing Mike!!!!!!!!!!
It takes alot of hard work and dedication to do what you just did-bravo buddy!
Infact-I think you motivated me enough to hit the gym again on a regular basis.
PS-I new this wouldn't be your last show-

Way to go.
Just curious how did you loose all that weight in such a short period of time, and is it healthy to get so lean?
I used to love watching Ronnie Coleman years ago. What a roid freak he was, but saying that he was naturally a strong guy when he first started lifting.
"light weight".....

When I stopped drinking pop my weight dropped off super fast. I own a lawncare company so I walk on average of 15-18 km a day chasing lawn mowers ....pesticide spray equipment etc. etc....
The last 2 months of so I did 4 hrs of cardio a day on the treadmill along with my daily workouts. I saw a doctor once a week to make sure things were on the up and up and everything was fine !!!
As for healthy and being so lean....I don't think it was so healthy...I was at 3.9 % bodyfat as of the show...
I'm already back up to 235 just by eating regular meals....but this time I won't go over 260 off season. That way next years diet won't be so grueling !

Awesome results Bubba!!! Thats a LOT of hard work! You got my respect for sure!
I worked for a bodybuilding magazine for 10 years, and it still amazes me the transformations you guys go through.
I like your idea of staying no heavier than 260, it won't be so hard on the body to shed less weight.
Congrats and best of success on the next one!!
