Just picked up 6 jugs of Penzoil Platiinum at Walmart
$19.88 for 4.4L jugs. I was really getting low so I thought I would pick some up. They also had the new Castrol edit: Edge there at $41 per jug. Has anyone tried this? I figured Patman would eventually comment on it.

Good stuff.
But I still have cases of German Castrol Syntec 0W-30 in my basement
Why can't they bring the Euro performance version of Castrol Edge 0W-30 ?

Castrol Edge is a pretty good oil that has shown some impressive oil analysis results but I just can't get over the ridiculous high cost (almost $50 for a 4.4L jug!) I am just worried that Pennzoil Ultra will be priced this high too when it arrives here (although if it is I will just keep getting it from the US)

We run Brad Penn 20-50 in our fairly stock Z06's based on recommendations from Mike @ Active Racing Engines.
Less expensive than Joe Gibbs XP5 semi synthetic and supposed to be every bit as good.
It is also what alot of guys are running in big hp marine applications.

20w50 is WAY TOO THICK to run on a stock (or close to stock) engine that is driven on the street. Under racing conditions with higher oil temps, it might be needed, but other than that, stick with 5w30 or 0w30.

this is what i run... high zinc content, susposed to be excellent for the bearings. I run 5w30 after break in with a 10w30 the oil pressure was too high with the modified pump... 5w30 seems to be the one for me...

[QUOTE=Cdn Z06 Mike;1574386809]Mike says to run it in everything. Stock or otherwise.
The guys at competition automotive also recommended running the same oil, albeit they recommended a Joe Gibbs.
