Default Looking to buy a Vette soon...

Been a depressing 5 months since I sold the Z, even though its been off season. Just not having a Vette in the garage, as I've had over the last 9 years, has been brutal. Even more so with the Z16, as this is the one car in my entire life of buying and selling for something else I totally did not want to do (Making Rob P feel bad here )

I am bailing some other toys and beginning to look around seriously. Sled is gone as of today, still have the quad, boat and pick up to go.

I'm hoping to find something in the next month or so. I'm not really into the whole USA scene, but for a great find I'm sure I'd go for it. My preferance is a CDN car with the 300 km odometer.

So, here's what I'm looking for in my next Vette:

C5 in the $20-25 range. Prefer 01 and up, could be coup, Z or rag, auto ok. Exterior conservative color (silver, black, blue, white), interior color no preference. Not into heavily modded cars, prefer something stock and unmolested, the lower the miles the better. Should have HUD.

I'd love to go C6, and could drop a bit more than my current budget, but would need to be low 30's to do that, and not sure thats doable.

So, if you have something, or know of something that fits my needs, let me know. And if you think I'm out of line in my budget, let me know that too

I feel the same way. I have been sick since I let my Baby go.So I am going to look sooner than latter for a c4 or c5. As much as I love the c3 body I need ac and comfort.

If you shop south of the border it should be no problem to get what you want within your budget. Up here would take some work and luck. For low 30's here you should be get an 05, mid to high 20's for a C5.

I know a guy that sold a Z16 here for a good deal because I was seriously interested and it sold before I could get there.... sorry, that was probably wrong to say that but it's good to hear you are back look for a replacement.

In the last couple of months I picked up an 04 vert for 21US in IN, also a 99 FRC in SC for a good deal. Watch the C5's and C6's for sale sections and keep your eye on the Trader up here.

Hey Mike
Ive been going back and forth on going to a C6.. My c5 is almost everything you didn't want.. 97... Torch red.. 60k.. but I think most people can attest you won't find anything cleaner then my car. (ok maybe Deangelos...) Check out my pics. Pm me if you have any interest.
no pressure... I love my c5, but if it went to a good home, I might just have to go shopping.

Mike, good luck in your search. I know this is not maybe the best to say but the U.S. is the best place to go if your lokoing to go back into a C5 right now especially a C5Z. With the dollar at par you can't beat the selection. Limit your search to driving only distances and put up a post on the C5 for sale section. Plenty of us have brought in car from the U.S. and it is not that difficult. The other smart idea is to contact a few of the Corvette retailers on this site. Tell them you are looking for a Vette within "X" paramteres and you would be amazed what comes there way as guys do trade in's. If they know they have a buyer you can get an amazing deal from our very own Cdn retailers. This is the avenue I went first but i didn't have any patience in my search when I want a car I wanted it now I will also ask my Retailers to keep me posted on any Vette's that come their way. You'd be surprised how many Vette's that come in on trade!

Just take you time and If you wanna do your due diligence. The inventory and the economy make the US market prime for the picking. Maybe Mike will broker something for you!!

Mike, I knew you would be back!!

The prices on C5 and C6 are still low. You might find the right Canadian car, and hopefully you do.

If the cluster is your concern, Custone in Whitby will do a C6 for $500. I am on the third year with mine and the only time where I wanted 300km was on the back straight at Mosport. Reality you are going to be looking at the Heads Up and it is the same as the Canadian cars.

There are lots of Corvette folks at the Wilson-Niblett tech thing next weekend. Might be some trading up!
