Bought a Madvette insulation kit, wanted to try and cut down on the interior noise since having my heads/cam/headers/etc done... car sounded good with the cat back only, but after the heads/cam install, (btw thanks Manny) the interior noise would start to get to you on a long drive... especially with the LG Pro long tubes and 3" x-pipe w/high flow cats... I love the sound, but needed to just take the edge off a bit...
The Madvette kit cut it down noticably, was expecting a bit quieter, but not un-happy - it just takes the edge off where I don't have to wear ear plugs on a long drive with the top up - never was a problem with the top down though...Oh, and it was a breeze to install as well - no issues / problems at all.... I just dropped it of at Manny's - you could almost say I slept through the whole install! Thanks for another good job and great service Manny!
I installed a similar kit a couple of winters ago and agree that it does help (especially eliminating heat from the tranny tunnel) but does not eliminate as much noise as I had hoped.. I then went a little further and added dynamat inside both doors and in the rear storage compartments and that eliminated even more noise...If I had to do it again however, I would spend the extra money and just use the dynamat everywhere....JMHO
I heard about the dynamat, but searched lots of threads and ended up with this stuff... found a thread where a guy said he checked the DBA with a meter before and after, and dropped 4 DBA with the kit in. I don't think it's that much of a drop though, it did cut it back enough to make it bearable...
Maybe I'll put some stuff in the rear wheel wells inside the inner fenders..- I've heard some guys do that with good results...
I have not installed any insulation. I researched a bit why my C6 Vert was so much quieter than my C5 Vert.
Knowing GM would not spend the money for insulation....maybe added weight as well.
I made two changes with dramatic improvement noise reduction. No db meter readings...sorry.
What changes did you make? I didn't have any noise complaints with my C5, even with the cat back, then with the long tubes, but after the heads/cam etc, it got pretty loud in there...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I own both a C5 & 6 Vert. I was always amazed about how much quieter the C6 is!
Also understanding how the C6 was cheapened in certain way's of manufacturing....how could it be so noticeably quieter? It sure was not by gutting the interior & installing the noise reduction material.
So I decided to try these two items with very good results.
Got my Exoticvette kit from Dan in Fla .within a week or so,plus a follow-up e mail with instructions as an attachment. Will probably do the install in the spring.

Reason: typo correction
It's been over a month and I haven't even been told it has shipped yet, all PM's and e-mails are un answered
My kit arrived long after I had taken my car to the US for the winter so I sold it to danhkts. Not very optomistic I will ever get the $25 rebate offered in the GP. This whole GP has brought a new meaning to the term "supporting vendor".

Hey Bob - since I bought your kit, do I get half the rebate?
I have a good idea - when you get the rebate, invest half of it for me at the local casino, and send me my winnings!!
Seriously, thanks for the good service/prompt shippment on the sale to me
Have you received it yet? Did you get the email I sent with the tracking number?

Bob, unfortunately, I cannot control the time it takes for the USPS to get the kit to you. I know you hated the wait for the Postal Service to get it to you, and why they shipped it out through Miami, I have no idea, as I mentioned before. I just took care of the $25 credit; I apologize. I thought I had already done that.
Mine arrived and looks great! Pumped to get it in.. Just waiting to see wether i'm going to change my interior at the same time! Thanks for taking care of the credit as well.! J
I installed the Exotic Vette Kit into my C5 Coupe 2 years ago. It was actually fun gutting the interior and seeing it lying all over the garage. The most frustrating part was cutting the aluminum tape and peeling the backing off. I lost count of the number of tape pieces.
However, the results are well worth the effort. Road/Engine/Exhaust noise were reduced. The tunnel heat is definately reduced but if that is your main goal then I think the tunnel plate replacement had a greater effect. Bare in mind that over long trips >4hours the heat makes it way back into the cabin no matter what you do.
