Default Has your active handling come on unexpectedly?

It seems many U.S. vette owners are trying to get a recall for the traction control. They say that the traction control or active handling has come on while making turns and locking up the brakes creating a scary situation. Some at high speed on the highway. It's happened on 05-08 models. I haven't had this problem and hope I never do.

Nope, has only come on when I was 'having fun".

It is the ebcm module and is an easy fix. It doesn't cause lockups, or death, or anything else. It just stops working and lets you know via the DIC. Send it out for repair for anywhere from $50. to $150 or get a new one for over a grand and you are good to go.
If you take the module off to send for repair you can still drive the car.

I've had the "service active handling" problem repaired 3 times but I haven't had the lockup problem. I hope I never experience that because quite a few have had it happen and even at low speeds it has almost caused accidents.

It just doesn't happen like that. If there is an electrical problem with the ebcm it will show immediately on the dic, even before you apply the brakes. It will tell you it has failed. It will not lock up.

If you go on the US forum, it appears that many have had their brakes lock up

Happenned to me recently. Anybody know who's the best to fix this locally (GTA). I'm out of warranty, but is there an active recall?

There is no recall yet but with the number of complaints the US are sending to GM they will have a recall and if they do then GM Canada will have to follow. But you know they probably won't do anything until someone dies in a accident as a result of this problem.

What exactly happens? Did your brakes lockup?
