Default Hello from a newbie

Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading the forums for a while, and have finally decided to make the move and purchase a Vette. Was hoping for some advice from experienced Corvette owners.

I'm looking for a 2007-09 C6 that has been gently used and well-maintained, preferably with the Z51 package. When inspecting a used Vette, would you recommend that a compression and leakdown test of the motor be done? How about an oil analysis? I'm being extremely cautious here due to an absolutely disastrous used car purchase in the past (wasn't a Vette). Both the engine and transmission literally went kaboom

It seems that many people here have bought from the states, though I'm ultimately hoping to find one locally (either in BC or Alberta). Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice or tips.

Thanks!

Let me be the first to say hello and welcome you to the madness! If you fill out your profile people will have a better idea of how to advise you based on location etc. Anyway I hope you get the car of your dreams and we all now that all car dreams have Vettes in them.

WELCOME!! There is no problem with being over informed... You would be good to see what members have car's listed on here as they seem to be more reliable then the average joe butt head selling cars. And a lot of people can attest to other members cars and their authenticity. That being said, making friends with your local dealer never hurts. They are hurting these days so deals are a flying!! If you find a car or two.. have the dealer check it out.. One advantage of the years you are considering is they likely still have warranty left. Going state side can save you a few bucks but be leary of the history.. Do what your doing talk to other owners and go reputable!! Good luck with it and welcome to the club!

Thanks for the welcome! Appreciate it. Have filled out my profile.

Yes, I'm being very cautious, but I'd rather be overly careful than buy something with issues. I've learned the hard way that one should never "fall in love" with a car that's for sale.

Welcome to the "unclub" ravenhill. Lots of deals abound for the C6 in Canada and the US. You just have to be patient, and like you say, don't fall in love with the first car you see.

Good luck in your search.

Stan in Ontario.
