Hi
Has anyone heard of this conversion? I have never seen this before but I like it.

Yes it's real. Caravaggio started off by offering convertible conversions for C5 Z06's. I believe he doesn't do those conversions anymore however.

Check out his website. Just google caravaggio corvettes and you'll find a link. Can't post it cause he's not a forum approved vendor.

John still does, but there's a lot of work involved, more than most people realize.

Just ensure its done right, b/c the frame needs to be re-enforced since the FRC style uses the roof as an integral part of the frames integrity of the C5 Z. Remove the roof on a C5 Z, and a C6 Z as a matter of fact, w/o any frame re-enforcement, and the cars become a wet noodle.

How could you tell if the car started life as a Z06? Maybe it was a convertible and now has the Z06 badges? Although it does say the frame has been beefed up.

2 ways to know for sure.

1st way is the VIN #. The eighth digit will be the letter S which indicates the LS6 enginge in the C5 Z06. All other C5's had the letter G for the LS1.

2nd way is the RPO# which you will find listed in the glove box (At least, mine was). The RPO for the C5 Z06 package is 1YY37.

The frame had to be beefed up as the car started out with a hard top. Cutting the roof off and leaving as is would introduce a lot of flex in the car. Especially with the power and torque of the Z06.

3rd thing you can try is take that listed VIN number and call up Caravaggio themselves to confirm. Caravaggio is located in Concord, Ontario.

If only they came from the factory like that. Nice looking car that #110410359870.
