Any idea where I can take my car to get a stone crack looked after before it gets worse? I go hit by a flying rock coming home from up North tonight. It appears to be 1/4" bottom right hand corner.
Your insurance should pay for this procedure with no cost to you.
They'll just pay for this procedure because it is cheaper than them paying for a replacement windshield even though you would pay a deductible in the case of the replacement.

That's not how it works with my insurance! If you choose to fix the crack, it's your cost. If you choose to replace the windshield, no problem, but LESS YOUR DEDUCTIBLE !!!!!

Who does your insurance?
I am with State Farm. They pay for this with no charge to me.
Have had this done a couple of times over the years.

Same here.
They just told me to take it to an Apple or Standard Auto Glass (they are both owned by the same company). You can even make an appointment on-line. Insurance paid for everything.
Pierre first start by calling your ins co and finding out their policy on windshield repairs then go from there as to where you take it. One thing I was told when I took my car in is that depending on the size and locaiton they may not be able to repair it.

Thanks Brian,
I have an appointment at 11:00 at Apple this morning. I just don't want to wait too long so that it doesn't spread. With a $1,000 deductible and having already had my front bumper replaced due to a comprehensive, I am apprehensive to go through insurance if the glass needs to be replaced. I was told $2,200 (full pop) over the phone, but they would probably do it for under $1,500. The HUD makes the glass more expensive.

I'm also with State Farm and I had a stone chip repaired at Apple Auto Glass just a few months ago. It was no cost to me whatsoever and they did a fantastic job, you can't even see where the crack was now. The Apple that I went to (in the Mississauga Motorway complex near Dundas and Winston Churchill) said you don't even need an appointment, and when I showed up there (around 10am in the middle of a weekday) they took me in right away with no waiting and they were done within about 20 minutes. I was very impressed!
Went to Apple. $75 + tax including a Starbucks coffee paid for by owner (read: me too). Great job. Did not put through insurance because of my deductible. Sure beats the cost of new glass.
Your comprehensive deductible only applies when replacing the windshield, not repairing it. This applies to every insurance company.
not so in alberta i have glass ins $175 /year - just had a new windshield put in my vette $50 deductable the new glass was $1445 installed i am doing the truck next week $880 with the rain sensor $50 deductable and the equinox $250 no insurance the week after. here is stupid alberta they use gravel all winter and it kills glass.
