Just purchased a 74 Convertible and joined this wonderful online community. I thought I would stop in, introduce myself, and say hello to my fellow Canadians .
I'm relatively new to the world of Corvettes and this site looks to be an amazing resource. I hope there are some others from the West Coast to provide guidance, especially when it comes to trusted shops/mechanics, suppliers, local events, etc. Here are some pics of my new ride:
Thank-you all for your warm welcome and nice words .
I'm going to apologize in advance for my newbie questions and not to worry, I will use the forum search feature as much as possible (sometimes, there's just way too much info!).
tfi racing: I am definitely taking advantage of the weather (I'm practically living in the car right now).
oakvillec5: I love the rack on the back too!
SAMMAN: The guy I bought it from had it stored for the better part of the last 20 years (it has 40K original miles) so besides some tuning and odds/ends, you are correct, it doesn't need a thing.
Thanks again for your praise, and I am envious of all of your gorgeous rides!
Welcome aboard!
very nice 74!!!
are you going the NCRS restoration, keep it original route or going to do some mods?
Thanks 66L72 . The car is original and has barely been driven (40K original miles). I don't have much vehicle history, but what I do know is that it is bone stock, except for the tires. According to the previous owner, it was inspected by ICBC about 7 years ago (the provincial insurance company in BC) and was approved for designation as a "Collector" vehicle (special license plates and significantly lower insurance premiums).
I have NO CLUE what I'm going to do - and I would love some suggestions. I am a car enthusiast and love to drive with an edge - so I'm big into horsepower and performance. That being said, I want to preserve the authenticity and originality of the car, and respect it for what it is. Perhaps there's a way to balance this? For example, maybe I can have the engine tuned (while keeping it original) and upgrade some of the worn suspension components (bushings, bearings, etc.). I don't even know where to start or how to proceed from here.
What exactly is a NCRS restoration? Is there some documentation or reference material somewhere that will help me figure out what I can do to the car without sacrificing originality?
Welcome to Corvette madness! (in a good way!) Gorgeous car, and I love the color!
The forum is awesome for tech info on any generation of Vette, and you'll find local members to cruise with

A bit more information in profile will help when you looking for comments from others.
Have you checked out any of your local clubs?
